    Has anyone seen it?
I went last night with my partner.
I wondered once six people or so had posted on here to say they’d seen it we could discuss it!!
Here are a few questions you’d like to ponder,
    Was it any good ?
Was it an Americanised Hollywood diluted history mishmash?
How do you think Phoenix did in the lead role?
    Josephine?
    Was it historically accurate?

How many Oscar’s will it win ? ( if any)
Could any other director done a better job?
    If not why not?
    If so, why so?
    David Lean
    Richard Attenborough
    Cecil B D Mille
    Oliver Stone
    Quentin Tarrentino

“Was it an Americanised Hollywood diluted history mishmash?”

Yes. So much so, that I didn’t bother going to watch it, having read several reviews.

    “Was it historically accurate?”

It was as historically accurate as Chezza is modest.

“Could any other director done a better job?”

Stanley Kubrick, if he had ever finished his Napoleon project.

    “Was it historically accurate?”

I am a bit torn on this subject. On the one hand, film directors need to tell a good story. That is not always true of history. On the other hand, films reach a far larger audience than history books do and have much more scope for influencing the public understanding of history.

I suppose there is a balance to be struck between entertainment and not taking too many liberties with the facts but it is difficult to get it right.

I think war and peace by Tolstoy and a multitude of literature on the terror and the French Revolution might have helped Scott a bit here!!!

Sounds a bit high brow for me – I liked his Black Rain.

Nice one cas I’ll check that one out because for me, I was looking for a closer delve into Napoleon Boneparte not Phoenix.
    Quote of the film
Was wellington saying that Napoleon’s weakness was his obsession for frontal assault’s. He wasn’t depicted like that in any other scenes…
