Andy: nobody has accused Murtagh of being a bad person.
Ruby: How was Johnny responsible for Kevin Manning’s actions? I rate both as top notch jockeys but in this instance Manning made an error and punished accordingly.
August 9, 2011 at 10:03 #367607Power ran a great race as this was not his ground. He needed Good to firm to show his best and also raced up with the sucidal early pace and just was nipped by a horse with a superb turn of foot. Heff did ride a excellent race but given the sticky ground he just got tired.
La Collina was behind Murtagh about 2l before jonny made his move to the rail. Kevin Manning held his ground on horse going backwards. Johnny should have known that going up the rail is a stupid way to ride a 2yr old race at the Curragh. He should have gone a bit wider and the gaps were their and he probaly would have been placed to the very least. Poor judgement by Murtagh.
August 9, 2011 at 10:32 #367609If Murtagh had gone the other side of Manning, and Parish Hall drifted away from the stands rail, I’d wager you’d ask why Murtagh didn’t send Frederick Engels up the yawning gap on the rail.
The gap was there initially, not his fault that the door was illegally shut in his face. These things happen.‘Terrible’ ride? No. Unlucky? Certainly.
August 9, 2011 at 10:47 #367611I’d almost swear that the people here calling Johnny’s riding poor must be trolls. People are pointing out all of his mistakes this season. He’s still arguably the best jockey in the UK or Ireland,I’d rather have him up on my horse rather than Huffy Puffy Moore.
Does anyone remember this year’s Oaks,no?
August 9, 2011 at 13:49 #367622Yes Heffernan rode a wonderful race except as Ruby said he kept up with the suicidal pace. Horse had no more to give when challenged.Pity.
