So how long will his ban be then?
June 7, 2012 at 16:17 #407223Surely you should know how many circuits you have got to do?
You wouldn’t wanna be the owner tonight when he gets his hands on him.
June 7, 2012 at 16:35 #407227When Richard Hughes did the same think at the same track (Wolverhampton), he got 6 days. Although this was way back in 1996.
More recent bans for this offence have gone as follows;-
2002 Eddie Ahern 14 days
2008 Denis O’Regan 14 days
2008 Sam Thomas 17 days
2010 Sam Twiston-Davies 12 days
2011 Sam Waley-Cohen 12 days
2011 Hadden Frost 12 daysI’m sure I’ve missed umpteen out but the standard seems to have levelled off at 12 days… although perhaps a day or so could be added seeing as it’s perceivably harder to do it in a flat race.
June 7, 2012 at 16:42 #407230He got 12 days which seems about right. As someone said on the track, why is there a variation on the length of the ban? You either get the distance right or you get it wrong.
June 7, 2012 at 19:05 #407254And you would think Warkslad would get the course right, Its Wolverhampton!!!
The only plus side is that the crowd would not have lynched him because nobody ever goes their, Probably why i quite like going their myself!
June 7, 2012 at 19:19 #407255Bad day at the office for Demuro.
Virtually gifted the last maiden, with all the main opposition out of sorts in the market and out of sorts on the track. Only Ann Stokell on a 100/1 poke offered up any meaningful opposition and he couldn’t even get past her!
June 7, 2012 at 21:18 #407286Bad day at the office but he’s been doing well recently for MJ riding 3 winners and a second from his last 6.
The 12 day ban will probably cost him 15 or so rides which would include about 3 wins and some place prize money going on his recent form.
He’s also only had 5 rides at Wolves and probably not one over todays long distance.
Not saying it’s acceptable but we all can and do make mistakes.

I would imagine there’s a variation in degree of error. While the end result may be the same someone who rides a finish after 3fs of a 11f race or 6f of a 14f race could be said to have made a worse error than someone getting it wrong in a 2 mile plus race.
In any event I think all the penalties for the offence are far too lenient and would hope the jockey gives the riding fee back to the owner.
