Doesn’t always get an Antepost market this one, but entries out………
https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/188/limerick/2023-10-22/851643
If it’s priced up, I’ll go with The Goffer, and looking at the entries, he’s main/only interest at this stage. Should’ve bet him EW at Listowel, but expect to recoup that cash as the season goes on. There was a lot of encouragement to take from that run.
Of the rest……
Coko Beach will always get my attention, and he’s just a very likeable type, while Frontal Assault and Run Wild Fred are another Gigginstown trio I like.
Much like Coko Beach, Real Steel might have to come down a pound or two, but hard to rule out, while I managed to miss Foxy Jacks at Kilbeggan and Listowel, after him being on my radar for several races the last couple of years. A bit annoying that, and he should continue to be competitive, especially going back right handed.
Last but not least is A Wave Of The Sea, who’s hard to predict, but well capable of getting involved here
All about The Goffer right now though, and he’ll definitely be main bet
The Goffer
Edit Final Decs
Real Steel interesting me, as is Coko Beach as usual, but I’ll stick with The Goffer as the only bet. I’d like him to be EW, but as he’s 8’s just now, it’s looking like win only, unless there’s a dramatic drift
October 9, 2023 at 21:43 #1666133Mahler mission is the entry that jumps out to me
Be interesting to see what price he is
October 16, 2023 at 09:36 #1666896Mahler Mission is interesting, as is Idas Boy. Both of Henry’s are also interesting so it’ll be interesting to see who he declares.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 16, 2023 at 13:42 #1666911I heard on Final Furlong Podcast with the trainer that Mahler Mission is probably not ready for this but I don’t think there’s an antepost market anyway so you’ll probably see that at 48 hour dec stage
October 17, 2023 at 17:04 #1667016At this stage, my two would be Defi Bleu, and Mister Fogpatches, however a lot will
depend on how the race is priced up. I’m hoping that there’s not going to be an ante-post market for this, as I could be swayed.October 17, 2023 at 20:50 #1667033Step up lads/coral…
Ida’s Boy fine off a layoff is my main selection….can’t say 10-1 is huge, but looking at his back-form you can see why they are wary along with the stable form.
Walk Away at 20s off 130 is very interesting too.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 18, 2023 at 19:20 #1667095Walk Away caught my eye Jack he went off favourite for this in 2020, always an angle for me as you think they’d love to have another go at it. Clearly a very fragile horse mind. Hadn’t realised somebody went antepost on it so I’ll have to take a look there.
October 19, 2023 at 10:30 #1667140Having listened to the course update on the weather (heaviest rain they’ve had on record in the months of July + August i think he said)….it sounds to me like this could be very attritional. My two selections might not be battle hardened for that…..

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 19, 2023 at 12:04 #1667151Got to be Mister Fogpatches for me. Ground shouldn’t be an issue and is bound to land one of these handicaps sooner rather than later. His run last time out after a long layoff should put him right and I would think this will be an early target with a view to Aintree down the road. I’ve got one eye on the Becher Chase, but we’ll see.
October 20, 2023 at 10:30 #1667253No Ida’s Boy. Walk away with Rachael on might change the 20-1 offered previously..

Il be giving it a miss I think
October 20, 2023 at 21:56 #1667333Limerick is renowned for getting like a bog and at Christmas is always testing, with so much rain this week I wonder how bad it will be? I will be looking for a horse that stays 4 miles let alone 3 and who will love the conditions…….
WALK AWAY for me. Clearly had its problems but has raced against good horses previously and should go on the ground and a nice low weight to boot.
October 21, 2023 at 18:11 #1667636Run Wild Fred was a horse that I liked a lot the season before last, so I will give him a chance here off the back of a long layoff. I think that it’s unlikely though. He is 10-1 at the moment, but I think that if I wait that I could better that
October 21, 2023 at 19:25 #1667647I was wondering what had happened to Run Wild Fred.

Walk away does not run
VF x
October 22, 2023 at 06:58 #1667724Just 13 runners and eight are from same yard and a chunk of them in same ownership. Elliott the linked name here. Holds a strong hand here but the rest of the field merit close inspection just in case the empire can be struck back at. Among the sky walkers is Henry de Bromhead and the princess Blackmore.
October 22, 2023 at 07:45 #1667727Joseph O’Brien gets the vote to win on consecutive big race weekends.
WAVE OF THE SEA
Each way
Owners retained jockey rides here and even though I’m not a big fan it’s a strong statement of intent from Joseph O’Brien’s Godfather and given his battalions of horses he has made one choice to run in this race. No danger of this jockey not making the weight.Wave Of The Sea 7,b g 11-1
Born To Sea (IRE)-Je T’adore(Montjeu)
cp7(32) (John P McManus)
Rated 141 (Won When Rated 142)
Joseph Patrick O’BrienM P Walsh
Has been rated right up to 150 and ran 9th in the national at Liverpool.
Last won off a mark of 142 at leopardstown in February last year.
So the key form has to be the grand national and Awots will be staying on easily in the closing stages and has collaborative form with the withdrawn walk on. -
