Id say Vautours performance over two miles the other day means he will go gold cup. So they will want to keep them apart. Djakadam is just not quite good enough, nor is Don poli. Both grand national horses in my opinion. I would love to see Douvan go for the gold cup but unfortunately not likely
I held fire on commenting on this topic until the end of punchestown for very obvious reasons…..my first point is….1)the end completely justified the means…..w Mullins IMO was unequivocally correct to withdraw VVM in sandown….he ended up winning 110k compared to 16k on Friday….the maths are so right it’s laughable……2)what does w Mullins owe us (I.e the punter??)if you’re talking through your pocket and have a problem with him doing what he does just ignore his horses……until u pay him money for training I would suggest shutting up…..he can do whatever he wants with HIS horses.
Regarding Mullins HF the only time I was talking through my pocket was the Vautour Gold Cup/Ryanair saga !!
The rest of the time it is just my opinion.
Personally I think the man shows a blatant disregard for both the rules AND the general public and he is VERY fortunate to have such good horses and rich owners!! I think it is about time for him to run his top horses against each other and let everyone see which is the best!!
As I say it is just my opinion and not written in stone but I would like to see him manage with average horses and then we would see if he was any good as a trainer!!
Still think the bloke was a bit gutless by not taking on Sprinter Sacre with Douvan in the Celebration Chase.

Lol I like it, nothing would surprise me now with Mullins Homer.
In fairness Raymo I can see where you’re coming from but his first loyalty has to be to his owners……I’m not sure if you’ll agree with this but I think we would not be seeing the likes of hurricane fly, douvan, Annie, vroum vroum being as dominant as they are without the genius that is W.Mullins being in charge of them……find fault all you want but he is the benchmark that now makes every trainer try to get better…..ghost….I’m not biting,,,,taking on a horse of sprinters calibre with a novice….u must be joking
Although I must admit I think douvan would win…he is magnificent, he just takes your breath away,,,,,,tall,sleek, athletic, overwhelming and above all……sexy
