Marlon Brando had as many as twenty five children.
    ( Edit )
    Let’s face it good actors
    are heavily conflicted individuals.
Some could be locked up for their own good.
    Outcasts !
Some don’t really know who the hell they are.
They might by chance have a glimmer.

Perkins was a hot crossed bun,
he wasn’t soul and disco – more punk rock and breakdance with a mental twist as an unwanted overture and the agonizingly simple, bemused perplexed look, thrown in as an encore.

Nicholson didn’t need to act in The Nest he was just playing himself.

Simon Brett could only really produce his masterpiece of Holmes when on a serious bender. Brett was as mad as a bucket of frogs but how he could make them jump ?

    (Edit)

What did they all have in common ?

    (Edit)

Brando, Perkins Nicholson and Brett despite personal flaws, which we all have possess to varying degrees, have each produced great volume of screen work and are to be admired for it.

    Gamble,
I sometimes enjoy your meanderings, they have their place on this forum.
Maybe my cold is fooling me and I am the only one…
But all your nonsense on this thread seems a bit disrespectful to the postmasters and postmistresses involved in this scandal.

    Gamble, you’re losing the plot.

The was no Alan Bates in Enter The Dragon,

Alan Bates, this one was a postmaster accused by the Post Office of theft. He cleared not just his name but all the others wrongly convicted. Although the Post Office and Parliament (in my view) are dragging their feet about it. They should all be cleared unconditionally and repaid what they lost (adjusted for inflation). Although money alone can’t fix everything.

Don’t see the connection between this and Norman Bates in Psycho except the surname Bates.

    From Wikipedia

Psycho is based on Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel of the same name, loosely inspired by the case of convicted Wisconsin murderer and grave robber Ed Gein. Both Gein, who lived only 40 miles (64 km) from Bloch, and the story’s protagonist Norman Bates, were solitary murderers in isolated rural locations. Each had deceased, domineering mothers, had sealed off a room in their home as a shrine to them, and dressed in women’s clothes. Gein was apprehended after killing only twice.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

I think you should both know I am fairly brazen.
I also lost the plot 20 years ago !
I was one of the three famous or infamous hijackers and I suppose there’s there is still that devil may care sense of why care a jot, lying latent within me.
I write totally what I think and that includes disengenous thoughts that filter through the mainframe. I call it SPLASH !

I have thoroughly enjoyed your comments as I seem to write in a vacuum. Word houses should in my opinion be self policing. I believe lifetime bans are in most cases an excess of executive power however in some exceptional cases I believe in HANG EM HIGH !

I appreciate that what you both write makes some sort of sense in the real world, I will try to train the frogs to learn your dialect.

As for the master of suspense and his magnum opus – PSYCHO – well you have now both made yourselves very welcome parts of the narrative.

Which cabins will you go for ?

    What kiddo TV programme
did Norman Bates most like watching ?
    Answers on a postcard,
or on a piece of bloodied cloth, the sort one might come across quite unexpectedly in a sock drawer.

    “I watched the programme ”

    “You look like ****.”

    “It’s not easy viewing!”

“What the hell’s going on ?
I’ve been hanging on this goddamned line for more than twenty godstoppin minutes.”

    “What’s the answer then ?” ….

“Just a minute fella there’s someone before you, on line two..”

    Line two .

” Hey schmuck, I don’t have the answer just wanna to say that in 1930 Gene Hackman was born – it was winter time and times were motherfuckin tough ”

“Yeah so what, you’re wasting my time *rselicker !”

“My point is if that if that jerk of a psycho kid hadn’t popped out in ’32 Hackerbaggies would have been the ultimate screen idol, no dispute – no argument – seen the car chase in French Connection ?”

” Mary Poppins beats that by a country mile – she could goddamned fly – now hang up jerk face!”

    “Back to you line one!”

    “What’s the answer ?”

    “It’s Watch with Mother “

‘The smaller stuffed (dead) birds could symbolize Norman’s conflict with not only his mother but all women – they are better dead and unresponsive. Norman says at one point in the conversation about his mother “But she’s harmless, she’s as harmless as one of those stuffed birds.’

The flies in the lounge have also created anomalies including two decades of anathema with little buzz.
Some of their number though through the shelf life factor are… hmmm deceased, or not possibly of this world, but these little flies create more questions than answers.

Put that in a quiz and don’t expect any normal replies.

Perkins was Norman Bates – Norman Bates was Perkins.
The greatest horror film ever made !

    Hackman take visible note!

Turn the heating off before you turn in.

    Hitchcock got lucky !

The big man created a cinematographic masterpiece that will never be usurped in several lifetimes.

Gamble…Fujitsu are looking for a PR man..I think you could fit the bill.
If anyone lost the plot during this absolute nightmare period it was them.
Send them all to Bates’s hotel and give all the postmasters and mistresses a free pass to vent their anger.
Compensation should be flowing freely from this company but instead they are sitting on their hands and lying through their smart suited lawyers teeth. :negative:

I’m fairly content chewing my chewed out nails down to a nothingness in the relative comfort of Cabin 12. Not a yard of TV but who wants mellifluous soma. Put that in yer pipe and smoke it Drone.
12 is geographically as far away from ‘there is only one Anthony Perkins’ and his tray of yesterdays fresh crust removed sandwiches as possible. Anyone that removes crusts from sandwiches or refers repeatedly to the Queen Mum, is ODD to the n’th degree and quite capable of possessing the men’s rea to brutally commit murder.

PSYCHO WAS THE BEST FILM THAT WAS, OR WILL, EVER BE MADE -PERIOD. THE NOT SO LITTLE BIRDS TOLD ME.
Ask Perkins about it – he lived the nightmare dream for the 30 odd years he lived BATES after his killing role. GOD BLESS THE MOTHER THAT BORE HIM.
I noticed the stairs in the old house are extra wide – STAIRS ARE KILLERS !!!
Estate agents keep that an in state secret.
Oh the purchaser passed away suddenly – but he paid a big deposit! Was he living in safety in a flat or bungalow ? No, a two up two down.
    SO SAD.
Was he going up or down ?

Good of you to try to salvage this thread Tippi. It’s a virtual floating wreck ever since Bates caught insomnia and destined himself to be a night bird and hurt the BIG BOYS for increasing the cost of the first class for OINKS like us to pay for this .
    ,
The biggest most corrupt scandal of the century, and oh such a frightener and of such magnitude to double down salivate the jowls of the joy boy, sell your mother for a farthing press hounds who sniff a good story a mile from their criticisms and yeah get yer hankies out – ever since lounge posts were
systematically destroyed in the back number area – well yeah dude — since all this hiatus died to a black hole, it’s been as dead as a creaking stair.

The ghost of Xmas Post Office past from a time when people could afford to buy a stamp now speaks.

    Ghost…

” Alan Bates is not Norman Bates, period ” !

“That is highly interesting Ghost, but what about the casting of his moody mother Paula Vennels ?”

These are private matters and probably best kept out of the public domain – but here goes..

    Alan has been working
for twenty odd years and has had a lot of screen time in those two, switch on switch off, get me to the end of these, difficult decades. His mother Paula prays a lot for his reversal, and complains privately about his big obsession.

Norman on the other hand wears Obsession and has been working
like a beaver for 64 years. His mother appears infrequently due to her advanced age but in spirit she’s all a go go.

    BIG QUESTION FOR FILUM BUFFS.

Who wins the hippy hippy hip shake Oscar ?

737 Maxine was going through the motions doing what she thought was latest version of the mashed potato at the annual whistleblower convention after dinner dance party in Charleston.
She’d bravely tried the Harlem shake but there were no takers as she’d lost numerous nuts and bolts as her landing gear embarrassingly seized up.
Perkins saw the lady was in some trouble and cooly walked up to her and said..
” Do you want to meet me old woman ?”

    Perkins was double twisted
and confused in his own life
which was a pain in the @rse for him, but that pain in the @rse magnified tenfold when
he took on the Bates persona.

    ” Who are you buddy?”

    “I don’t know who I am
but Bates is weird to an extreme.
    He is not me, but
he fits into me cosily, and I feel kinda comfortable in his uncomfortable skin.”

“Does that mean you are Bates?”

    “Yeah I’m Bates alright
    and I don’t think I will
ever lose him. He is me. ”

    Hitchcock hits the jackpot
    and the viewing public will
    never be more horrified.

Alan Bates and the P.O. scandal are momentarily horrifying, and bring on more misery and deaths than PSYCHO’s unforgiving filthy swamp.

PSYCHO though, will survive 500 years, if the planet allows it – it’s ART and nothing spoken in the confessional box, can or will surpass it.

    BLACK BEAUTY!
