As self-appointed Head Of Lounge Covert Operations (LOCO) I’m assembling a crack team for a mission so impossible and so top secret I ask that no one discusses its full details on this public forum.

Seven days hence there is a notorious event (which must remain unnamed) and it’s so heinous that only one person (who must also similarly remain anonymous) can save the TRF Saturday afternoon racing massive from its malign qualities.

He achieved this miracle in 2021, but has been awol ever since, meaning last year marked a return to the usual dreadfulness.

Our 2021 saviour HAS to be found by Saturday morning.

So I ask those who volunteer to spread out – all over the internet and indeed universe – and find him and bring him in.

    Thanks in advance.

May I refer you to the strange behaviour of the dog in the night time.

I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highways

Anyone who encourages the Shergar Cup deserves to be condemned into oblivion. In fact, I suspect he was snapped up and permanently silenced by the vigilante group … Captain Robbo Oblivion Crew (CROC).

Last seen tearing up a Coco Gauff betting slip and drying his eyes with a Croatia shirt. Wonder if he has an Emma Raducanu voodoo doll, it might be working.

Some posters just have too much energy. The Sundancekid if you go way back, burned himself out on the Betfair forum with a repetitive and condensed twelve hour day regimen of posting. I think he posted without a break – even Sundays. Someone told me he prepared for it and set his alarm and looked forward to his sessions with an eagerness.
The midnight oil can burn you up eventually as it did with the Kid, but also the intensity with which you write, even over much shorter time frames, demand a constancy and quality that the writer often finds impossible to keep up, and like a comet entering the earths atmosphere the wrong way they just burn up. This may well have happened to the missing man – he kept raising his bar and one day it was all too much and he ran away.

It’s going to be a long Saturday afternoon if he’s not found and brought in, that’s for sure.

Extract from my Facebook memories from 2011 which illustrates that the main event wasn’t the main event on this particular day: “had the most lovely time at Ascot on Saturday. Good racing, delicious King Prawn Tempura with sweet chilli sauce, then an 80s-themed gig in the late afternoon sunshine with China Crisis, Brother Beyond, Visage (”Two eyes staring cold and silent….” – loved it!), Toyah, Altered Images (Clare Grogan looked AMAZING and was great), Odyssey, Kid Creole, and the brilliant Jimmy Somerville.”

Not a word about the six contests that preceded all that which kinda tells its own story – he must be found and brought in to save us, only five days to go!
