Charles Darwin to conquer the World
August 25, 2010 at 09:37 #314570theres one thing i can never understand in the betting forcast in the newspapers " why do they not all agree , some of the time they are vastley different " the answer is prob simple , but sometimes they dont even agree slightly with each other.
I only use the racing post only because i use my laptop and i find it easy , is it a daft question to ask " are there any better " that i can look at .
Good luck everyoneAugust 25, 2010 at 10:14 #314573Wednesday August 25
Slipped quiety out of the Essex Badlands late in the afternoon yesterday and so now connected to the very slow wi-fi but will do my best to keep up to date.
Thanks
Nathan
, yes it was great but sadly with all experiments the minimum shilling only was wagered.
Today I think we all much about agree on selections but I was unable to get into the RP to check if favourites.
Colepeper had moved out of the 2/1 requirement to 9/4 so for me is a missed bet.
Bangor 8.00 WHAT A SCIENTIST 13/8 – 6/1 Odds Checker

I am not sure if there is a definitive answer to what you are asking but it does look as if the newspapers are outsourcing from an agency (Cutting costs as per the modern world) because as you say they do look to have a very similar shape. I have recently checked MAIL, SUN & EXPRESS all on the same day with very little difference and identical for most races.
For me this is a great improvement on the Mail’s past betting forecasts when they were (I thought) wildly different and very very different from the resulting s.p’s.
How do the RP stack up?

August 25, 2010 at 11:16 #314582First of all Billion well done on your selection results , having looked at your picks lead me to wonder why i had more or different selections . The reason i asked the question about the forcasted fave was because i use the racing post which for the last 2 days have given 10 picks of which 6 have won and 2 have placed . If i was to worke on a points system it would mean i would be 6 pionts up , its interesting to see if i had used a newspaper ( any one of them ) if i would of had more or less selections .
I think you may be on to something here Billion and its godd to see where the selections are comming from and which ones do perform the best .
For eg i have 6 selections today from the RP but if i say baught the Sun it may have been more or less .August 25, 2010 at 12:35 #314602And already it is Good Afternoon

I have just managed to get a signal strong enough to get into the RP and can only find 3 selections: –
Ffos Las 5.20 RUSSIAN WAR 13/8 to 3/1
Bangor 6.00 POINTS OF VIEW 2/1 to 6/1
Bangor 8.00 WHAT A SCIENTIST 6/4 TO 11/2
All 3 won @ 11/4 – 5/2 – 5/2
The rules (guidlines) are take any forecast Favourite at a min. price of Evens (1/1) with a required gap as I posted.
The Fav. although must be a min. of 1/1 should be no bigger than 2/1, therefore any Odds On or bigger than 2/1 are not counted and cannot be selected.
I thought you may include the Irish but did not find any there either.
Are therefore including any at a forecast price of Odds On? Or bigger than 2/1?
The debate or even the excersise is to find out if sticking to the rules proves better or going with the market.
It further suggests if going with the market figures close to the off the bet is void should the selection go Odds On.
I hope this has helped.

Also
Lang Shining (4.00 Lingfield) 5/4 – 4/1 but again Odds Checker was 1/2 odds on
Therefore both were passed by

August 26, 2010 at 16:07 #314725Don’t see why not, Billion…they are all qualifiers. Pity that the seconditis has kicked in again.
Sporting Life overnight selections are 2 out of 3 at the moment and reasonably hopeful for Magical Legend in the 6.25 at Cartmel to give me a small treble.Pick of the RP for Wednesday

4.45 Bath Green Pearl 7/4 next 6/1

if you spot any errors. Lang Shining incl. despite being odds on but many may have included it in a multiple bet.
