You’re right Pilgaric, Mike’s impersonation was of the 1970’s early to mid decade. Including the then Prince Charles aka King Charles 3rd. The eighties was Spitting Image era.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.September 10, 2023 at 16:47 #1662559Imagine trying to make Dick Emery’s film “Ooh You Are Awful” today, with its plot:
“Before his death, Reggie Campbell Peek deposited a stolen £500,000 into a Swiss bank account. But Peek left a record of the account number: the digits tattooed on the bottoms of four young women, none of whom knows the value of her asset. His friend and partner-in-crime Charlie Tully (Emery), using his talent as a ‘master of disguise’, sets out to locate those women and gain sight of the digits.”
And who could forget Mandy?

Think it coincided with his move to ITV, as it did with others. Obviously he got a lot more money though.
I’d probably have Rory Bremner at his best on a par with Yarwood although Rory could be very funny live, something I think Mike would struggle with. When Rory did a programme for the most recent General Election unfortunately he too had gone downhill.

Sounds like today’s footballers moving to the Saudi league.
