The ground looks well watered to me.
March 15, 2025 at 15:13 #1724138WD any winners. Not sure if anyone on here did back him in the end, what with the official going.
Good to Soft my arse.
Yet another course official going pre-racing that’s absolute bollox!!March 15, 2025 at 15:13 #1724139Mr Vango wins. I was right. Well watered.
March 15, 2025 at 15:39 #1724144WD Winners.
March 15, 2025 at 21:23 #1724177Can’t take any credit for it. Never backed him in the end. No idea what the ground was really like but I wouldn’t say it was soft or any worse. None of the jockeys would have needed to stick their silks on anything more than a 30 degree wash!
March 16, 2025 at 10:47 #1724209Tizzard’s Cider has the right of it. Trainers can always telephone the Clerk of the Course, and walk the course themselves. Uttoxeter has always been popular with trainers since the days of Major McAllister, who would tell them exactly what he was up to. Watered 5.1 on the going stick seems pretty fair, hence 30 degree wash.
March 16, 2025 at 11:35 #1724214The jockey of the winner described the ground as ‘testing’. 40 secs slower than standard.
March 16, 2025 at 12:05 #1724222Yes, Mike, agree totally; it was testing.
1st Q to a potential new clerk of a race course at his/her 1st interview for the role:
“Are you good with a watering hose?”
A: “Oh yes, an absolute dab hand. The more water i can put down the better i am”
“The job’s yours; when can you start?”
March 16, 2025 at 12:09 #1724223Lol Wilts , if you were to say ” No I believe in proper spring ground to entice the classier horses ” then you’ll back in the car park within 5 minutes
