Well it was a first for me, when compiling the speed figures for yesterday’s meeting at Meydan, to see a 2yo Polar River ridden by Sam Hitchcott win an all age maiden on her debut by 13½ lengths (fast by 1.13s), on going I had at +0.40s/f (standard to fast).
The first thing I had to remember to do was remove the 13lbs RP WFA allowance from the Polar River’s speed figure so not to corrupt the figures of the older horses, and then remove 13lbs from the other 2yo in the race Kabaw.
Sam rode two winners yesterday, which makes a change from riding for Mick Channon who occasionally throws him a bone.
The debut speed figure of 73 Polar River earned from me was impressive, but I shouldn’t get carried away as the maiden she ran in was one of the worst I have seen.
Mike.

will you be putting up your speed figures after each meydan meeting throughout the winter/spring?
