Giving the 2.40 a miss, the odds on Fav should win.

Just treading water wwaiting for the big one to get
underway. I had backed Continuous ante post, I quite
Fancied him but he’s been drawn out in the carpark
in stall 14. I’ve not given up hope but he’ll need
a good bit of luck to win from there.

I’ve decided to add Al Riffa, O’Brien junior’s horse
at 9/1 wit Bet365. He won a Group 1 in Germany last
time out, maybe not the biggest Group 1, but he won
it with any amount in hand. Perhaps more to the point
is he was just 1L behind City Of Troy in the Eclipse.

I also took one with perhaps an outside chance of a
    place, Sevenna’s Knight 66/1 Bet365.

That will do for me today, any of the 3 would be very
    welcome :good:

Just read through your bets today Graham and you were a tad unlucky with 1 or 2 of them. Exactly ran a cracker of a race I though he was going to win it until Soumillion came flying by with his stable companion who put his head down at the finish and stole the race at odds of 100/1 🥴🌀😵.

Continuous was sadly badly hampered by the stricken horse in the Arc. Awful to see a horse go wrong like that and hewas due to retire to stud after the race
Continuous came back sound and will have his day. :rose: Jac

Would have joined in the betting on the races with you Graham but Dave had tests at hospital today (All OK✨️) so I had to tape it and have just watched it.
Believing needed 6 furlongs… the L’Abbaye is just under 5f and too short for her style of running. Still I got 9/1 EW which yielded a small return.

Bluestocking was amazing and Los Angeles didn’t disgrace in the Arc.

Future Champions at Newmarket next week so hoping to see more top class racing before the season ends. B-)

Glad you liked the pictures. :rose:

    Hi Darren.. :bye:
Yes I am going to Newmarket tomorrow, I had a nice bet on Desert Flower today, she was so impressive it’s hoing to be a cracking 1000 Guineas next May with herself and Lake Victoria. :rose:

Glad to hear you had a great evening at Kempton and lovely picture of Glastonbury💞.

I hope this is a good thing Darren but it seems that you and I agree on 3 horses running tomorrow :yahoo: . I have had a very quick run through and these are the horses that caught my attention running at Newmarket..

    1.07 – Lead Artist- Win
    Al Mubhir-EW

    1.50- Starzintheireyes

    2.25 – Silver Peak
    Nightwalker (EW)

3.00 – Shadow Of Light **NAP**

    3.40 – Spirit Mixer
    Sixandahalf

    4.15 – Olympus Point

    4.50 – Marine Wave
    Tiger Bay

Best of luck Darren and all in the comps tomorrow.

So many Godolphin runners this weekend will do an updated Leaderboard (at last  ) on Sunday. Really sorry for the delay in putting this up but it has been terribly sponsored with no Bonus races for months.. I think we all lost the will. Hope you all manage some points this weekend on the comps. Desert Flower a nice 500 today but severall fancied Godolphin horses disappointing. 😞

    @SportingSam
Many thanks for your PM and sorry late getting back to you. Glad to hear all going well for you. :good:

Best of luck tomorrow everyone…Jac :bye:

Good Morning to everybody – I hope that you are all OK.

I have to say that I have lost all interest in the Godolphin Competition.
I still have 2 swaps left but my interest now is on the coming National Hunt
Season. Sadly I do not have the ability any more to focus on the day to day
form of the Godolphin horses and having made a poor start and having no Bonus
Races to boost my score my interest has been lost.

Will update my score after this weekend’s racing

    All the best :good: :bye:

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well on this thread I know it’s primarily for racing, but other than the tree 🌲 thread which I am slowly reviving this is the place I’ll keep you posted on developments. I’m a long way away from returning to race reading and working hard as I can on life and projects in Suffolk. Having entered the art world in January with my first exhibition life took one of its unpredictable turns and I found myself homeless normally that means lots and lots of issues pertaining to the situation including destitution sleeping rough, trouble in terms of violence, coldness, hunger and the excesses of human unkindness and mental health issues addiction and vices. I only experienced a couple of those enemies and working every day and 80 % of the time with access to a vehicle had if need be a place to sleep. I spent three nights in a field in a tent ⛺️ At the fishing hamlet Felixstowe Ferry in wet conditions but I had a good tent and then the next three night I was master of the village homed in a luxurious houseboat on the mudflats on the banks of the river Deben it was the highlight of my three months of homelessness and I’ll not forget the kindness and ingenuity which helped me find my feet 👣 at a dark time. My volunteer position at Helmingham Hall was also crucial to my time out of a home and the staff there gave their hearts to towards my welfare and going there three times a month under the wing of the amazing five full time gardeners I forgot my situation. The biggest development for me was my discovery that I had a huge aptitude for writing my own poetry and prose and I’ve written quite a few pieces over the past six months now.
Yesterday I reached a new level two weeks ago I staged a variety show at a large hotel in town and last night I took part in a special service at Saint John’s Church Orwell Road Felixstowe to remember children who’d passed too soon. I was there actually to remember two personal losses and although I wasn’t expecting to, I stood up and lit two candles one for Leah who miscarried and for a child too early to determine identity one I now know as Mystique. Leah would be twenty five years old now. Lighting the candle was harder than any act of remembrance I’d ever done as I’d never before mourned for my children in public and neither had the small group of individuals gathered last night and I cannot say that I have been to a more moving service in my life. It was part of a national Lost baby week where parents of children lost early are remembered all over the country.
I’m not a church goer but my connection to saint John’s is that I lived around the corner for four years about eight years ago and one of my close friends Alan Rutherford a man of action (and a fellow Land Rover driver!) was very active there -and still is-doing communion and managing both the clock tower and belfry. I interviewed him in April as part of my “twelve” art project.
Last night I was invited to read a poem written specially for the service.
I don’t see myself reading anyone else’s work anytime soon, so I wrote a piece specifically for last night. I actually wrote it in twenty five minutes at 2:40 am on Saturday morning. You could say I’d been waiting for inspiration. It’s the way I work to deadlines and under not a little pressure it was important to write at that time not quite the eleventh hour but pushing it if nothing was coming forward. I’m pleased to say it did and I was able to draw on life experience to write my piece.
Standing up to read my poem was extremely hard and emotional 🖤 but I felt Leah next to me and the warmth and depth of feeling of those gathered to staunch my raw tears and emotions I have a good strong reading voice and love the work I now do, but that was challenging but I’m pleased I did it and shook hands with everyone there afterwards.

    Lost Baby Awareness Week 2024

A poem by local poet Dave O’Flaherty
    Written Saturday 12th October 2024
    Reading at Saint John’s Church
    Orwell Road Felixstowe Suffolk
    1800 hours Saturday 12th October..

Lost at home, lost for good
    Often remembered,
    Not often understood.
The care for a baby all forlorn,
The loss of a loved child never born.
Wanted to give our loss a name,
    No welcome home,
    You never came.
We made a place especially for you,
You see, it’s what expectant parents do.

Devoted yes we were to you.
Our threshold we never carried you through.
But loved child you know we care.
You never came, but our memory is there.
Names we choose, we’d settled on.
    She named you Claire,
    I wanted John.
We agreed what matters was our joy
To name you ours be you girl or boy.
To go to nursery go to school .
To get detention, break the rules
We had it planned we’d let you choose.
We’d take you to town to buy your shoes
We’d hold you gently in our arms,
And be enthralled by all your charms .
You are ours you never came.
we didn’t get to say hello.
You never came, but you didn’t go.
Our pain it is a difficult one.
We lost our daughter and our son .
Our pain was real we know because someone said it’s not a loss, not yours.
Yours is different just because !
You know then your dealing out of hand
    With a person who doesn’t understand .
    Oh yea it’s very real
to have this deep pain that we feel .
You see no matter how hard we try, say hello? We never got to say goodbye…

Because this feeling yes we know say goodbye? you didn’t come, we never got to say hello….

Still our knowledge that you were there means so much to us to say we care.
    To parents remembering everywhere.
    Finally coming together to share,
our love for lost babies everywhere.

    Darren..
Well done with the winners at Newmarket on Saturday..
Lead Artist and Starzintheireyes both won very well and Shadow Of Light was outstanding.
I hot a place with Olympus Point and in the final race of the day Marine Wave almost gave me a 16/1 winner with the bookies but got beaten by a neck by Rage Of Bamby..I got a nice place return though. :good:

I’ve been reading about the shambles of the Cesarewitch race which has really been a big mess up if they disqualify the winner punters on the 2nd horse have lost out. I can’t understand why there was no objection lodged at the time or a Stewards enquiry called. 🤔

Hope you had a place double on your two at Naas today Darren. :good:

Sam your poem wasn’t just beautifully written, it was beautiful and
    deeply emotional.

I was going to send you a PM on here but everyone on here are friends,
and therefore it’s like speaking to a family. You shared your grief with
us and therefore I feel this is the right place to share this with you.
Nobody will have the same feeling that a parent has when they lose a child
before birth. I haven’t lost one, but the coincidences are staggering.

My sister in law lost two children that lived, Kerry was 12 and died on her
way to school, she had a long standing heart problem. Leigh was their 2nd
child, she died in a car crash at 17. Those were unbearable but they then
had to endure giving birth to a child that they knew had already died, he was
a boy. So although I can’t feel what you went through, we were so close that
as an Uncle, I found it just too hard to bear. God knows how my sister and
brother in law got through it all.

I couldn’t read your poem without the tears of all those thoughts flooding
back to me. So I can never say I fully understand everything you went through,
it hit me so hard that I can at least in part know what you went through.
God bless you Sam (or I should say Dave) and little Leah and Mystique.

You are a very talented Man with a big heart Dave. God bless all those little
ones that didn’t make it through to this world, they will be waiting in another
place, of that I’m sure. Don’t give up your writing, it is inspiring.

    Graham :rose:
