Jeez, how well did he travel and jump there.
That was another great performance from the horse.
What a privilege it is to watch him.
December 26, 2009 at 15:19 #265587Simply incredible
– what a horse.December 26, 2009 at 15:20 #265588Me Likeee…..he was basically over the line when the rest where jumping the final fence…
December 26, 2009 at 15:22 #265589What rating would you give that performance?
December 26, 2009 at 15:25 #265592Great performance and congrats to KS. Without a doubt one of the all time greats and up there with Dessie
December 26, 2009 at 15:26 #265593Absolutely fantastic.
Was quite strange that he was battling with a grey horse right up to the third last. Looked like it was a duel between Dessie and Kauto!

Was thinking the same myself to be honest.
December 26, 2009 at 15:31 #265595Awesome – his best performance ever.
Absolute respect – all doubts I have about him have been dispelled.
December 26, 2009 at 15:32 #265598Ruby knew that there were no horses in the races worth getting worried about, that’s how he could relax and let him jump so well. He ran brilliantly, but what did he beat ?
December 26, 2009 at 15:33 #265599Truly exceptional performance from a truly great horse. Kauto jumped better than I have ever seen him. Kempton’s three miles is just perfect for him.

December 26, 2009 at 15:33 #265600Great performance. Hopefully he’ll get to Cheltenham sound.

Only all of the Gold Cup chalengers (bar Denman) and a whole host of steady improvers!
He’s also beaten Barbers Shop by a massive distance if youre looking for your yardstick, Goldi
December 26, 2009 at 15:38 #265603You right Goldikova. What did he beat? I dont like being negative in this thread because its such a superb feat by a brilliant horse but the rest of the field were not what I would call top class
December 26, 2009 at 15:42 #265605Barber shop is hardly a great horse now, is he ? I love Kauto, don’t get me wrong. I just happen to think that Denman is the only horse worth measuring a horse by, and vice versa for Denman with regards to Kauto. Bring on Cheltenham, because these are the only two stayers worth the battle. No other horse out there stays a decent gallop.
December 26, 2009 at 15:45 #265606It was probably the weakest of his King George’s but he can only beat what is put in front of him and he did that by a country mile.
Imperial Commander was his only realistic challenger and he ran no race even allowing for his mistake at the second. Barbers Shop and Nacarat were the only two that tried to live with him and they’re no more than Grade 2/3 class IMO.
Its a pity that Denman will never take him on away from Cheltenham but Nicholls is dead right to keep them apart when he can farm every decent staying chase in England between them.
I’d be hoping an e/w alternative will emerge in the Lexus on Monday in the form of either Joncol or Cooldine.
December 26, 2009 at 15:56 #265609It’s quite incredible, really.
Before the race, this was being touted as Kauto’s biggest test to date around Kempton. Now, after such an emphatic victory we have to suffer the question "What did he beat?"
This was a properly run contest and Kauto laughed at them.
What did he beat? A grade one winner and former Hennessy winner, Madison Du Berlais, who twice claimed the scalp of Denman last season.
Anyone still think Denman’s injection of pace in the 2008 Gold Cup was the downfall of Kauto?
December 26, 2009 at 16:01 #265611Every time someone says Kauto Star is vulnerable/not up to his old self/has regressed, BET HIM. You’d think people would learn by now
.Well, looks like I was right. Kauto Star is incredible, this was one of his best performances. You’ve got a horse on par with Arkle and Desert Orchid, admit it!
