You have lost me on that Cheekily but I am as thick as two planks tonight. Should the ‘may’ not be replaced by a ‘ would’ ie conditional.

From what I remember of the forum change of hands:
Davies offered some money to Debbie (don’t know how much) to have his name above the door, it would have helped him to get Big Green off the ground. Though I doubt it would have made any difference, in hindsight.
Debbie chose to gift it to Corm rather than take any money from Davies, who was roundly loathed at the time.

Some might say that Davies is still roundly loathed by those who are a good judge of character.
All I would say is that being friendly to him for a while is one of my regrets in life.

Your short interjection in this thread may be bang on the money and I am not one to challenge your virtue or honour, and whether there was a side bet all those years ago, is of no interest to the majority, but I juggled it all during the wine loving nations match last night, and a few things struck me as a little odd and seemed to offer a different reality.
The wolf on the tennis pitch and the new bearded Messiah Ferdinand who believes the three lions are in a class of one take precedence for the moment, and I wish you fun with the watching.
There wasn’t anything odd at all Gamble. LRM wanted to leave the forum in the hands of someone she trusted and although we really only knew each other from the TRF poker nights she thought I would look after it and that was her only ‘price’. We keep in touch from time to time and she is OK. It would have been Daylight’s 48th birthday today.
The forum has afforded me some opportunities in racing over the years which have more than outweighed the work involved in administering the forum, work I mostly enjoy. I often think of DL in those moments and hope he somehow shares them.
Of course, mistakes aplenty, over-enthusiastic and a bit rash and hasty on the ejector in the early days. The biggest disappointment for me remains losing the support on the forum of Jim and Grass along the way (although myself and GH remain on good terms and keep in touch a little bit). Jim’s passing was sad news when it arrived, we met a few times and got on well but his vision for the forum was different than mine (as was GH’s) and they were probably more right than me in hindsight.
Of course, I rely on Matron and VTC for helping with moderating and on Nathan and all the other enthusiasts and competition runners.
And we are still here 15 years on – traffic still much the same despite twitter, instagram and facebook. New members still joining up, and old ones resurfacing!
And you, and I, and many others, staying the course.

I never did understand why Ian Davies was banned, liked his posts but obviously there must have been something happening in the background that I was unaware of.

I ate 2 x Cheapskates (fish) and cheaps (£16) at a Weatherspoon establishment last night with 2 free pints ( the lady loves milk tray but drank the extra half for its value) after soaking up a day of sunshine and latte. I made up for the expense by sleeping on bare boards with a cushion and a £6 sleeping bag where the zip let me down. The lady was on heavenly down. Discharged three brown envelopes yesterday £200, £20, and £40 the last was not accepted with a look of shock. The first was to a very old man in poor health who I had only known for half an hour, such is the variety of my life.
