I started thinking of ways to sort out the best meeting of the day in which to have a bet on a favourite. So I have been paper trading this system since 27th November… to my surprise it has given me 7 wins from 7 so I thought I would post it, so I could watch it go "tits up".

    1. Make a note of the top two selection box picks at each meeting using the Racing Post. If we have TWO clear picks (eg; 11 & 9) then both races would warrant further anaysis. If we have any joint selections (eg; 11 & 11 or 11, 9 & 9) then the meeting is discounted.

    2. Prize money for any qualifying race has to be more than the AVERAGE prize money for that meeting.

    3. Narrow selection process down to just ONE meeting using the largest prize money difference (No surplus, no bet!)

    4. Now use a combination of best surplus, number of tips and AM top rated to decide on the Nap of the Day at the BEST meeting (No top AM, no bet.)

    5. Sunday’s could be a bit iffy…because not all tipsters give a selection.

    Results so far:

    27/11 Contraband…won 8/13
28/11 Longshanks…won 4/6
29/11 Wouldn’t you agree…won 7/4
30/11 No Selection
01/12 No Selection
02/12 Eric’s Charm…won 4/7
03/12 Murphy’s Cardinal…won 8/15
04/12 Balla D’Aire…won 10/11
05/12 No Selection
06/12 Our Armageddon…won 6/4

Will start posting tomorrow to see if the run continues.
Hi Bricoman.

Ineresting post, i used a system very similar with some success a few years back.

From each meeting taking place back the shortest price favourite from each meeting providing it is evens and above, i used to do them in doubles and trebles, its quite surprising how often this method wins.
Because the prices are on the small side doubling and trebling the odds in this way boosts the profit margin.
Give it a go paper trade it for a week or so and compare it with your system see how it goes.

    Cheers.
Daz.:cheesy: l

    Hi Daz,

Thanks for your interest. I will be putting your ideas on the back burner for now because I was really looking for a one-a-day system to use as rolling doubles with MrE’s ratchet system, as a replacement for AK’s tips. Perhaps when this system runs its course I will be back in touch for the details…I noticed at Ayr that we have 3 fav’s at odds of 2/1 in 3 different races in the Racing Post..so you would have to narrow them down…surely?

I have just heard on the radio that racing at Ayr & Newcastle have been called off due to freezing temperatures.

I must explain Rule 1 further: If there are any JOINT tips then they are automatically discounted. So at Ayr we had the top selection with 12 tipsters and TWO further selections on 11 tipsters. So because we have only ONE clear favourite we ignore the meeting altogether…there has to be TWO CLEAR (not joint) fav’s. Also at Newcastle we have the top pick with 12 tipsters and THREE separate races on 9 tips… so this meeting would also be discounted. That left just Southwell with 11 & 9 tips respectively…this meeting would qualify for further analysis. Both races fail the criteria because the picks are not a TOP AM selection.

    So today’s bet: NO SELECTION

Hi Bricoman wishing you great success with this – a lot of thought gone into it obviously. Am I right in saying that if both selections are Top AM then the deciding factor is how much above average the prize money is? And is this what you are referring to when you mention surplus?

    Again good luck.

    Hi snowman,

Glad to see you’re still keeping an eye on me.hehhehe:biggrin:
So far, the rule of thumb is to pick the BEST out of three. By making a note of the number of tips, AM top rating figures and any surplus amount above average prize I usually find there is one that sticks out.

Take the meeting at Leicester on the 4/12:

    1.00 Travello (6), (24) & (+£547)
1.30 Balla D’Aire (9), (2*105), (+£401)

As you can see, it’s not always the largest surplus that you take, but is a big deciding factor on the meeting that you end up going for. I went for BD’A because 2 out of 3 swung it for me but also the AM rating was far better.

Today’s pick was a tentative one because it was the 1st pick on the A/W and (non-jumps), it was also a H/C, so I did think the run might come to an end, it won by 5L in the end, comfortably.

Anyway snow, keep popping your head in…it’s always great to hear from you.:)

    Today’s Pick:

    1.15 Leicester Dun An Doras…Won 2/7

Nearly unseated jockey at the 7th but went on to win by 13L at the finish…shame about the price though.:(

A run of 9/9 is great tipping – almost regardless of price Bricoman.

    Well done.

    Thanks snowman,

I think AK motivated me to try and find regular winners for MrE’s Ratchet Plan. I’m also sure if we can string together a series of winners on that plan, then price would be a secondary issue.:)

    Hi All,

Just thought I would bring you up to-date regarding the benefits of using MrE’s Rolling Doubles and in particular his Ratchet/Staircase Plan with this system so far.

Starting with a Working Bank of 100 pts and a Reserve Bank of 100 pts on the 27th November and using a stake of 5 pts until the Working Bank had grown by 50% before equalizing both banks and dividing the NEW Working Bank by 20…the following are the latest bank totals.

    Working Bank: 181.27 pts

    Reserve Bank: 150 pts

    Level Stakes: 141.23 pts (Reference)

Next Points Target: 245 pts (New 50% Bank Growth)

    Next Stake: 21.39 pts

    Watch this space!

You are to be commended Brics, a wonderful run indeed and this is what you need to do to see the staking plans in their best light. With and average amount of luck, and you do need to rely on luck too, any reasonable system must come up with these runs, we expect to have losing runs of 5 or 6, so it stands to reason that we should also expect to have winning runs of the same length…… doesn’t always work out like that does it…… hehehehe…… I aint been around for a while, tied up with family commitments (I’m baby sitting my 12 year old grandaughter whilst her mums working all the hours going during the Christmas rush….. told ya I was an old softie)….. I do pop on to read this board though, but just cant get on to write anything…… bloody kids……. hehehehe…… keep it up Brico, its looking real good, and don’t let Snowy get too hot under the collar, he’ll bleedin’ melt…….

Blooming Eck MrE, fancy you and Saddam making an appearance on the same day!..hehehe..

Glad to see you out and about…missing your dry wit and supreme wisdom on the punting game.

Good Luck to the "busload" of Santa’s going to Towcester today (from work)…have a great day and I hope my Nap does it for you. Sadly I’ve been left with the job of holding the fort on N/Shift so I had to decline a place on the bus.:(

    Today’s Pick: 1.40 Towc Lords Best…5th 6/4F

I suppose it had to happen in the end…:(
