9/4 for this years Sports Personality (BBC) quite surprised as I thought it’d be Jessica Ennis now, but you can back her at 10/1, hope he wins it.
August 2, 2010 at 21:17 #310652I had a fiver on him this morning so hope he wins to Matthew. Also reckon Hughes and Hannon should get team of the year although that will go to Somerset CCC when they win the 20/20, CB40 and county championship.

August 3, 2010 at 00:37 #310664Now then Mathew, if you think Jess should be favourite but she’s trading at 10’s, should you not be filling your boots. With Hamilton/Button seemingly in the third best car and Murray’s demeanour counting against him even if he should win at Flushing Meadow, her price looks big to me and I will have a modest interest.
Would like to see AP win but I have considerable doubts.

August 3, 2010 at 10:26 #310699Don’t forget there’s still a Major to be played in golf and the Ryder Cup to be played in October. Both events, especailly the latter, will have English golfers doing very well.
Justin Rose for example has won twice already on the PGA Tour this season. If he were to win the final major, or be the leading player at the Ryder Cup, then he’d probably be a shoe-in. Big ifs I know, but it just shows what’s possible. I certainly wouldn’t be backing McCoy at those odds is what I’m trying to say.
However, I do sincerely hope that this is the year that both Phil Taylor and AP get recognised.

Lee Westwood is far more entitled to the award than Rose, Westwood could be No.1 in the world this weekend.
Fabulous Golfer, lovely man aswell mate.
August 3, 2010 at 12:08 #310713I am as big a fan as anybody of Tony McCoy but he would be lay all day in my book to win SPOTY for reasons well documented here that I think most people are very familiar with……..The same goes multiplied by a factor of a million for Hannon and Hughes to win team of the year……..sad to say but 100% true.

Yep id agree with that Bandicoot Tipoki has more chance of winning it than AP.
August 3, 2010 at 13:05 #310729You can get 12s on Mo Farah as well. I’ll take that and the 10s on Ennis all day over McCoy.
August 3, 2010 at 13:14 #310732In some ways i feel Phil Taylor deserves it more than AP.
You can never imagine such an award going
to a Pub sport ambassador though.August 6, 2010 at 09:23 #311257((Scratching head)) So why cant McCoy win?

You mean like when Darren Clarke was 1/5fav to win and he put on his best tin foil suit to collect his tin trophy! His face was a picture when he lost!
August 6, 2010 at 11:16 #311280McCoy, legend, champion, BBC, grand national, winning bets, bravery, national hunt reminders, aintree replays..and he’s been 3rd already…time has come..
he’s nailed on and I await collection from some early bets
August 6, 2010 at 12:26 #311296I wouldn’t trust the outcome of anything that depends on the whim of a Great British public that voted Ryan Giggs into this award last year.
August 6, 2010 at 13:59 #311309Westwood may be the best of the ENGLISH golfers but a best Brit?I dont think so, Graeme McDowell,North of Ireland, won the Open(US).What major has Westwood actually won? Maybe that is why "wee Anthony" is never picked.N of I you know, not really one of us.

He’s no.3 In the world
that makes him the number 3 in the world, never mind best of British.August 6, 2010 at 15:42 #311330Westwood may be the best of the ENGLISH golfers but a best Brit?I dont think so, Graeme McDowell,North of Ireland, won the Open(US).What major has Westwood actually won? Sean Micheel won the USPGA Ben Curtis won the Open as did Todd Hamilton did that make em best in the US?? It didnt. Westwood is by quite a distance best of the British and id put young Rory McIlroy in front of McDowell as well tbh. Winning the US Open could put McDowells game back years….see the above 3!!!
August 6, 2010 at 19:13 #311363Hi Matthew; which do you think Westwood would prefer?Third in the world for now or the US Open Champion(or any Major, for that matter) which will become part of World golf history? It is the British Sportsman/woman of the year?Right. To Ardross I say ask the golfers which is more value to them.Ask Colm Montgomery for goodness sake.
