I would ordinarily be at Northaw Point-to-Point today which, located as it is just outside Potter’s Bar and just outside the M25, has pretensions to being North London’s racecourse since the sad demise of Alexandra Park.

That part of Greater London is excellent for Greek/Cypriot/Turkish food too and there is a nice little takeaway I like UK visit after racing.

Alas, as in 2020, not to be this year but hope springs eternal for 2022 and I am looking forward to Bank Holiday racing featuring, Beverley, Bath, Windsor, Kempton and Warwick – all of which I have similarly enjoyed going racing at in the past.

14 days until crowds are sanctioned at sporting events….can’t wait.

Remember the days there used to be a dozen meetings on a Bank Holiday Monday, with an average field size of 4 or 5 runners at many of them.

As I recall, Easter Bank Holiday Monday always had a particularly busy racing programme.

Was looking at some old racing calendars a few weeks ago.

In the late 70s there were no less than 16 meetings in Britain on Easter Monday.

There should have been an easy low priced yankee lurking there but never found it. :-(

Lots of opportunities for skullduggery as well. The Gay Future coup was on a bank holiday and who knows how many other stunts were pulled at some of those fixtures in the days before television pictures.
