How good is On The line???
Seriously my favourite horse racing show ever and Matt Chapman is superb!!
Seriously recommend a watch if you haven’t seen it.
On at the races every mondayFebruary 14, 2017 at 10:20 #1287345I’m with you, love it.
Its a bit of fun and not to be taken too seriously. Some very silly callers and its great when Matt puts them in their place!
February 14, 2017 at 12:51 #1287357I think its absolute rubbish. I watched it three or four times but just found it pointless.
February 14, 2017 at 13:01 #1287361February 14, 2017 at 13:33 #1287372A radio show at best ……literally no point in it being televised.
February 14, 2017 at 19:15 #1287406I’m a Chapman fan for sure, really love Ask The Handicapper.
February 14, 2017 at 19:44 #1287412On The Line is very funny at times. Chapman is one of the few racing presenters who has cottoned on to the fact that you should be entertaining as well as informative.

February 15, 2017 at 10:54 #1287491There was an episode a few weeks ago which featured a bloke who couldn’t understand why he’d lost his money when the stalls opened and his horse did a ‘Hamlet cigar’. Matt tried various analogies to explain, but to no avail. It was very funny.
There then followed a guy from Sligo:
“Ah you’re from Sligo – beautiful place.”
“Oh, have you been here Matt?”
“No.”
He explained that although he wasn’t actually a bookmaker, he ran around town taking bets from all the pubs “but only up to eu5000”. The discussion about the legality of it all was hysterical. Later, his “twin brother” rang in to join the conversation…Mike
February 15, 2017 at 19:46 #1287548February 15, 2017 at 22:03 #1287568I like Matt Chapman and both OTL and ATH. What other shows are good. I have Racing UK hut don’t know when (or if) anything is on?
February 15, 2017 at 22:12 #1287570Excellent viewing, injecting A bit of fun into the sometimes “too serious” approach racing presenters have….cant watch RUK outwith the actual races for that reason.
February 15, 2017 at 22:21 #1287573I’m in pieces watching that clip.
The other week some guy was talking about a horse stopping to chew on a hedge then carrying on the race and winning! Matt was having trouble holding himself together.

They have ‘The Verdict’, where James Willoughby spends four hours analysing to buggery some handicap from Burkino Faso or wherever. Honestly, I never miss it.
Also, Ruby Walsh banging on about Cheltenham.
And trainers speaking in fields.

Here’s a clip from it!
February 17, 2017 at 08:39 #1287691This stuff is Chapman in his element.
February 18, 2017 at 12:07 #1287860I think Chapman is absolutely perfect for On The Line. He is a good interviewer with the trainers and his conflict with Maximilian from Musselburgh provides, at the very least, a limited degree of entertainment. The show doesn’t take itself too seriously and is all the better for it.

The hedge is invisible but I reckon he was on about the following
