This race has been won by some very nice horses in the past, and is perhaps a bit of an overlooked race, but it’s usually decent……

Too difficult to call right now, but there are a couple jumping out at me, and for once it’s not Houblon Des Obeaux, though I’m hardly writing him off either.
Otago Trail – Stablemate of Houblon, and he landed this in good style two years back. He then met with a setback which kept him off the track for a year and a half. He returned in The Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle, early last month, and it was a highly encouraging return. His run next time at Ascot was desperate, but he was entitled to bounce, and off more or less the same mark here, he looks a big player, and it might just be the case that this is the race he’s been targetted at. There’s the obvious distraction with The National entries being revealed this week, and if he was Aintree bound, he wouldn’t want to be winning this. Considering connections, you’d think he would be running at Aintree, but that didn’t stop them two years back, and he has to be given a serious look here.
Give Me A Copper – Nicholls runner who’s been given a Gold Cup entry. That’s enough to give him respect here, and though he didn’t look top drawer before his own enforced layoff, it would be mad to not take note of that entry, and this is a race where Nicholls has sent some decent sorts in the past. Question marks, but very very interesting.
No bet right now, but I could be swayed in the coming days, and that’s the pair who immediately get my attention, while there are obviously plenty of nice sorts in there, including…..
Caroles Destrier
Kimberlite Candy
Le Reve
Loose Chips
SinglefarmpaymentGive Me A Copper 8’s
Otago Trail 16’sJanuary 30, 2019 at 14:44 #1394272No Aintree entry for Otago Trail. He might actually have other targets, but for a race he’s won, then I can’t ignore the 16’s now, he can’t be close to that on the day if he’s declared.
February 1, 2019 at 22:07 #1394687I’m a big fan of Waiting Patiently. Belami des Pictons did well to stay within a few lengts a year ago. I think he is very well treated based on that. I think he might be the class act in this race.
Belami des Pictons 4/1
February 1, 2019 at 23:09 #1394698No Otago Trail, and I was going to go in again on him, so I’ve got it down to three for me, and I’ll probably just split Stakes on….
Give Me A Copper 8’s Win
Houblon Des Obeaux 12’s Win
Loose Chips 25’s EW 5 PlacesWas going to have a fair swing on Otago, but although nowhere near as confident as this trio, and won’t be betting as much, it’s a decent race, so might as well have a go.
February 1, 2019 at 23:26 #1394701I like the look of this race because I think Belami is far too short a price !!
I have already backed three horses each way five places because I thought they were all over priced!!
AMI DUBOIS 12/1
CLASSIC BEN 33/1
KAYF ADVENTURE 16/1As I have already said there are some great prices on offer for this because of the fav being too short IMO having not ran since November 2017 and something had to finish second to WP. I think the bookies have gone overboard on that piece of form.
February 2, 2019 at 00:15 #1394708Ami Desbois 12/1
Ran very well as a hurdler and then ran some nice races over the big ones. Was cruising last time out and seemed to struggle with the additional mileage. Back to shorter here, he should go very well off an attractive mark.
February 2, 2019 at 00:34 #1394714Ami Dubois was also found to have lost a shoe during his last race Kev
February 2, 2019 at 09:28 #1394762I have seen there’s been plenty of money for Ami Debois this morning, 14s into 7/1.
Loose Chips remains my favourite horse in training and back at a C&D he loves goes in as a must e/w bet at 25/1.
I looked back on a few of Give Me A Copper’s races and it reminded me of the favourable impression he left at the time, I know he’s week in the market but at 11/1 he’s worth a go especially given how well the Nicholl’s runners have been performing on Saturdays this season.
Houblon Des Obeaux goes into the book as well given he was in such fine fettle last time out and I was on.
A BIT OF COPY & PASTE HERE I’M AFRAID!
Loose Chips 25/1 (e/w – 4 places)
Give Me A Copper 12/1
Houblon Des Obeaux 12/1February 2, 2019 at 10:20 #1394778The two ew I have for this is the favourite for V Williams and Ami Desbois
February 2, 2019 at 20:01 #1394913GET IN !!!!
February 2, 2019 at 20:11 #1394916GET IN !!!!
Well done, Raymo. 33s is not a bad price. I think Pricewise might have jumped on your bandwagon since he napped him today at 25s.
February 2, 2019 at 20:19 #1394917I did wonder Ruby why it shortened the way it did
February 3, 2019 at 10:40 #1394947Just spotted you had this one Raymo, excellent sir….was it your lolly that crashed the price
February 3, 2019 at 11:10 #1394954To be honest Graham I had more on the second than the winner but can’t be greedy as I had the forecast too!!
And has anybody else noticed you can take the price on forecasts with Bet365 I got over three hundred to one for the forecast and it ended up only forty seven quid!! Happy days
February 3, 2019 at 11:32 #1394962Congrats to Raymo and other backers of the winner !
I had Kimberlite Candy each way, so was pleased with a place.
February 3, 2019 at 12:42 #1394977Nice one Raymo
February 3, 2019 at 14:55 #1395024Nice Raymo!
