Cant he just tone down the Minder speak a bit? Its murder this week
Im a londoner and i find it embarassing. All this talk about Grasses and heavy handing rhyming slang.
Its a bit like being irish and listening to shane mcgowan or scouse and listening to jimmy tarbuck. I cringe…
And does he really know these Runyon type characters he goes on about?
September 29, 2006 at 11:02 #78209He’s great. Just look at his tips and then cross them out.
Makes life much easier ;)
Seriously though, think of how much better the weekender would be if they had Dave Nevison writing in that page. Anyone else read/enjoy him in the RFO?
September 29, 2006 at 12:31 #78210I thought everybody talks like him dahn sarf
September 29, 2006 at 17:03 #78211Agreed – it’s embarrassing.
Anyone would think we can’t talk proper, innit.
September 29, 2006 at 23:16 #78212Yes, Salselon, I think Dave Nevison’s got a great sense of humour, and always enjoyed his column. Haven’t read the RFO for a while. Actually, I thought he wrote for the Weekender or another racing paper. A memory lapse on my part, no doubt.
September 30, 2006 at 08:57 #78213Hmm…bit of a merchant banker.
October 1, 2006 at 07:56 #78214I’d be interested to hear his son and to see whether or not he has picked up this ‘sarf London’ speak as Mark married one of those ‘ting tong’ ladies as seen on ”Little Brittain”!
He may well wish to keep up this idea that he’s from the ‘Old Kent Road’ or ‘The Elephant & Castle’ but the nearest he gets to it is drive past the area on his way to and from central London as he has actually lived in Beckenham Kent for several years now.
