The argument about the Champion or the Mares is becoming tired. While the soft option is there, it is hardly surprising that connections will take it.
Cheltenham could solve the problem by either moving the Mares Hurdle to the Mares Meeting in April or put a ratings limit on the race. But have they got in them to potentially anger the most powerful stable in racing that has won the race 11 times?
