is it true to say that the horses owned by any members of the maktoum family that are not under the godolfin banner are inferior to the ones that are.

    No.

Hamdan has some good horses that he does not relinquish to Godolphin (as did the late Maktoum al Maktoum).  In theory, the best of the rest go to Godolphin – it is meant to be the elite training arm of the Maktoum empire, after all.  However this is not always the case (Bernadini, for example).

Not all the horses selected for Godolphin will be good, and not all those left out will be bad.

Moving a horse to Godolphin essentially means moving him to Suroor (or Suroor’s satellite yard in the US). In the case of Bernardini, this would have meant taking him off Tom Albertrani, who was Suroor’s assistant from the mid-90s through to the early 2000s – obviously not something Sheikh Mo considered either necessary or desirable.

Sheikh Mo often has horses running in his colours in France (tends to be with Fabre).

Then, if they’re good, they go to Godolphin at 3 or 4.

An example would be Doyen who ran in the Arc in the red & white then appeared in Godolphin colours (and trained at Newmarket) as a 4yo.

No.<br>With all due deference to Sheik Mo, and the millions he’s put into British racing, if he and his advisors tried to pick their nose they’d probably poke themselves in the eye.

Regarding the Godolphin Lucky Seven…..it may well be won by someone from the Falkland Islands who has done the Lucky Dip!!       ;)
