This is one straight out of the Barney Curley playbook.
Trainer W A Murphy (based in Co Kildare) who hasn’t had a runner in over 5 years saddles four runners tonight at Wolverhapton.
All four have not run since at least 2010 and three of them have never won.
The horses in question are:
Musical Express – 6.25
Ros Cuire – 8.00
Tumblecloud – 8.30
Toberogan – 9.00The prices of all four have collapsed this morning and it looks as though they have all been done in multiples.
If this is pulled off then it might just be one of the greatest coups of all time.
I’ll be watching with interest tonight.
March 15, 2013 at 13:06 #432922Just posted about same thing.
Barney Curley in disguise I suspect!
Think it sends out a terrible message for racing personally, if it comes off racing will have serious questions to answer
March 15, 2013 at 13:20 #432929You really couldn’t make up a better back story if you tried. The thing is, though, it’s not as though the authorities can argue that the horses haven’t been running on their merits. They simply haven’t been running at all!
March 15, 2013 at 13:23 #432931Trainer seems to have even less form than the horses..
Is it too late to get my 50p Lucky 15 on?

I think so. If you’d done an e/w yankee when they were all double figure prices then fair enough but they are all now very short prices and apparently the bookies are going SP only on the last two.
March 15, 2013 at 13:55 #432943Anyone know who W A Murphy is?

March 15, 2013 at 14:40 #432957Paddy Power early wouldn’t let me get a quid on the first one.
and didn’t even have any prices on the last 3. I think they should have a special on the four of um…….

March 15, 2013 at 16:51 #432982Surely sending such a large squad under circumstances raises a red flag.
Leave these 4 and look at others in the races, and i would not be surprised to see the odd runner or 2 in the events.
The betting police will be onto this for sure should ‘something’ occur.
Barney Curley has abused punters for years, me included.March 15, 2013 at 17:10 #432988Of course, it now sticks out like a sore thumb having four horses sent over from Ireland for a very low grade Wolverhampton meeting by a trainer who hasn’t had a runner in either country for years.
The reality is, though, that last night I don’t imagine there were many people paying close attention to the card for Wolverhampton and by the time it appeared on the radar of the racing media the money was already down.
That being the case, the question you need to ask is have any rules of racing been broken? There can be no suggestion that these horses have been run down the track recently to get their marks down as none has run since 2010.
I, for one, hope connections pull it off. They’ve waited for nearly 3 years to run these horses and if any one of them can win it will be an amazing feat of training.
March 15, 2013 at 18:24 #433000Tuffers , dirty racing on the bookie channel , who cares what happens , in this low grade dross fest anything is possible
For sure it attracts the wrong publicity time after time , when will someone see sense and knock this dross fest on the head
Mug punters in betting shops surely deserve more cartoon racing than this rubbish
DROSS
IMO

March 15, 2013 at 18:31 #433002Well that hasn’t started well unless it was an unbelievably complicated plot to quietly back Downtown Boy at 50s!

What’s the suspicions? I’m new to this sort of thing so not sure what we’re looking at?
March 15, 2013 at 19:13 #433019There is more to making money these days than by coups on your own horses.
They can either lay these ‘oh so hot ones’ or whack into other horses in these races having scared the bookies into lengthening the ones they want.
Oh so very Curleyesque…..March 15, 2013 at 20:34 #43303918:25

So we’re under the impression that these horses are being layed by the connections?
If so how did the connections get the horses to have short enough odds in the first place? I mean I’d expect horses that haven’t raced in years with a trainer who hasn’t had a runner in years to have massive odds?
