Fatally injured in the first race at Wetherby yesterday. Again, the RP doesn’t bother to note this, though it did offer unusually lengthy comments:
“Midfield, unseated rider 4 out (The stewards raised a query with the trainer into the reasons why he was running the gelding here on going officially described as Soft, having reported that the gelding was unsuited by the Good to Soft, Soft in places going and would prefer a quicker surface on its last run at Market Rasen on 26 December 2019. Trainer’s rep stated that, in their opinion, the bends were riding particularly loose at Market Rasen and given that the gelding has previously run well on Soft ground they were happy for the gelding to take its chance today)”.

January 12, 2020 at 18:59 #1479666I thought he was OK as he was an unseat … but then I briefly saw him follow the others and sadly his leg was not right … he probably landed badly and got injured then? Horrible sinking feeling. There’s a lovely photo of him on FB – looks so kind … didn’t deserve this … well none of them do I know …
