I can barely contain my excitement. I am off to Banstead Manor today to see my old mate, the legend that is FRANKEL!!!!!!! I am taking my 4 year old twins who were there for his final race at Ascot. I forced them to watch his 14 wins this morning so they have a bit of context!

Hopefully have some pictures to post later!!!

I thought this was a thread about me Joni!! You can tell that bloody horse he cost me a fortune laying him to lose,he also didn’t do my credibility as being the finest judge of horseflesh ever to ride 3 fillies in the same afternoon any good either.Mind you we do have something in common,me and

    Frankel

.Lookin forward to lunch with yo again my old friend!

Lucky you. When we were at Newmarket the people staying at out B&B had been to see him and kindly got me a brochure [racing people are like that :)]The other stallions there are gorgeous as well, especially Dansili. Have a great day!

I too had lunch with an old horse friend of mine.

Sadly, it wasn’t a great reunion for either of us.

He was in my Tesco value lasagne

    Enjoy your day Joni.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

    Thanks guys!

It was a wonderful day. They do it very well. You start with a talk from the head of the stud and then they take you to meet three stallions.

    We started with

    Oasis Dream

. Now 14 he is a right powerhouse and a hugely successful stallion for the stud with Midday probably his most high profile son.

    Then they brought out

    Dansili

. As Moehat says he is a fine specimen. Much leaner and more graceful than OD. He is now 18 and still going strong and covered 100 mares this year. They reckon that number will start to fall over the next couple of years but he could still be going into his early 20’s. I was struck by how much of him you can see in The Fugue. He is also the sire of Harbinger and Rail Link and you can tell he is a favourite of the stud as his mother was the great mare Hasili who has produced 6 individual Group 1 winners and 3 stallions! Hasili herself now enjoys retirement at the stud itself.

Then it was the main event! I must admit to a tingling in the spine when they brought out the greatest horse I have ever seen. My god he is a sight. He is now 630 kilos but doesn’t look fat; just extremely powerful but such star quality. He was beautifully calm and they said he is a very level headed stallion. Very professional and an extraordinary success rate in terms of getting mares in foal. The staff cannot wait for his first progeny to hit the track the year after next and just looking at him you have to think that even if he can pass just SOME of his incredible physique and talent to SOME of his progeny we are going to be seeing some serious talent on the racetrack over the coming years. It certainly whet my appetite anyway.

He has just finished for this breeding season and will be off to Gloucestershire for the rest of the summer before coming back into exercise at the end of the year. Apart from the endless shagging they keep him fit with 2 mile walks but sadly he will never have a rider on his back again. We had about 20 minutes with him and I took hundreds of photos. Unfortunately I had to hurry back to catch a flight to Glasgow so won’t be able to post them til later in the week but I hope you won’t be disappointed.

It was wonderful to see him again and the kiddies were very well behaved…mostly.

Anyway it costs about £50 and you also get a free Premier Entrance ticket to Future Champions Day. Lunch with a genuine legend. Highly recommended!

Look forward to the photos. The people I spoke to said Frankel was incredibly calm and well behaved but got a bit fed up after a while

. OK I know they get paid for it but I still think it’s great that they’re happy to share him with people.

Joni, you should’ve asked for a good dollop of Frankel’s manure as a souvenir
