I’ve also posted this post on the Memorials page, but i’m not sure if it’s a memorial, so wasnt sure of the best place for it.
I’m not sure if the horse met a fatal end, but he went wrong in the last at Ludlow. I hope he’s ok.
I read on sportinglife race results that the horse went wrong and pulled up 2 out, so i watched the race. I had no idea what colours Emotional Article ran in, so i didn’t know which horse i was looking out for sadly going wrong.
To me it was obvious which the horse was, as it came round the bend before 4 out. The horse clearly stumbled and from them on was running awkwardly on his front leg, but the jockey continued to ride him and continued to jump 4 out, the horse was not running for a place and was right out the back. He looked to limp again before 3 out and jumped the fence and landed awkwardly. The jockey then continued to push Emotional Article towards 2 and jumped it, which was all too much for the poor horses leg and it finally gave way on landing and the jockey finally realised sometime was amiss.
I was absolutely shocked and disgusted that the poor horse was made to jump 2 more jumps after clearly suffering a problem on the bend! The jockey (amatuer) should have noticed, if he cant spot when a horse goes wrong, he shouldn’t be riding. Not often things anger me, but that was just not on.
I hope the horse was able to be saved.
April 23, 2011 at 20:34 #351849Must admit I was there but didn’t notice mamlook; was focusing on the business end as I’d backed Capt Marlon ew.
However, I did notice a horse did come back in the horse ambulance after the race.
Sad if something had happened to Emotional Article as I liked him in his days with Tom Taaffe. His current trainer Belinda Clarke has done pretty well with him and he was ridden by his usual pilot, who would be experienced enough.
