If she did run youd think Mullins would want something to push the pace for her , the prob is that then is the perfect set up for the Lion , I still think Mullins will take the easy option with her , it’s going to be a interesting race tactically
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 25, 2026 at 20:13 #1756372So Ricci has lost a game of cards to me and I have landed Lossiemouth… I’m the owner.
First things first she will be wearing the Hughes plain orange silks. I’ve spoken to Willie and he is happy to keep her in his yard. I toyed with the idea of changing her name to Quite Unique but I guess that could cause a few issues and as a new owner I decide to keep a low profile.
Seeing as I have never owned a winner before let alone a Cheltenham festival winner I decide to run her in the Mares as A) Its a far easier race and B) Quite Unique… I mean Lossiemouth is far more suited to the distance.
Prize money will be spent on a game of cards with Ricci… he wins he gets Lossiemouth back if I win I get Gaelic Warrior.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 25, 2026 at 21:13 #1756377It’s a Yes from me, I want to see the best horses taking each other on.
February 27, 2026 at 09:44 #1756505I cant even comprehend why it would even be a question this year.
-an extra £180’000 in prize money
-mares race no formality, Wodhooh a big danger (Personally i think Wodhooh will beat her)
-the CH is piss Poor and she might just have to beat the New Lion to win (would be weighted to do so comfortably with her allowance)
-Mullins doesnt really have another chance in the CH (if you want to argue Anzadam or Poniros then go for it, but theres zero to support it)Basically if Mullins opts for the mares hurdle then he’s a terrible trainer who has absolutely fluked the numerous trainers championships, winning every thing there is to win and breaking every record there is to break. Very, very lucky man.
February 27, 2026 at 15:14 #1756534Have to be barmy not to run her – she is unbeaten at Cheltenham in 4 runs, there are if buts and maybes about all the top runners and I wouldn’t read much into her defeat at Leopardstown (she is 2 from 5 there).
She won’t have a better chance of winning the race and if I were the Ricci’s I would be telling Willie it is the Champion Hurdle or nothing – yes 2½m is most likely her best trip but we also know that many a Champion Hurdle winner won over the longer trip (including both of the Ricci’s Champion Hurdle winners).
To me this is even more of a no brainer than Constitution Hill going on the flat.
March 14, 2026 at 14:13 #1759946When will the poll be closing so that we can see the results Gladiateur?
March 14, 2026 at 14:16 #1759948Never. Bwahahahahahaha
Okay – I’ll close it now. Just for you.
Erm… I tried but think a mod needs to close the topic.
Help me, Obi Wan VTC – you’re Marlingford’s only hope
Further edit: I have somehow managed to make the results visible.
March 14, 2026 at 14:49 #1759953Thanks Gladiateur.
Not a surprise the result was heavily in favour of her running in the Champion Hurdle. If anything, I’d have thought it might be even further in that direction.
