I thought I would do some maintainance on my standard times list and when I came to check out Longchamp I realised that they have been playing around with the 1m1f & 1m2f distances.
I had not noticed that they had run the 1m1f distance 9 times at 1m1f55y in the past 2 years.

03-Jul-10 01:05 Biased 1m1f
02-May-10 01:35 Zagora 1m1fIf I thought that adding 55 yards to the 1m1f distance was bad enough, I then looked at the 1m2f distance things got worse.
They had run 1m2f distance at 1m1f165y 7 times.

August 28, 2011 at 14:59 #369389There are 46 starts at Longchamp over 4 full courses and a short straight course. You have 17 listed on the spreadsheet. There are no "furlong" distances, everything uses a metric metre basis. 2000m = 9.94 furlongs.
August 28, 2011 at 17:20 #369395If you check on the Racing Post Website they only record distances in old money(lengths, furlongs and miles) not metric.
In the past 2 seasons they have only run 18 different distances

August 28, 2011 at 22:02 #369412You cannot rely on RP as they do not know from the results which one of the 4 courses are being used for any particular race. There are only distances in exact multiples of 50m, but many distances are exactly repeated on the other courses, presumably to save wear and tear. So the "9f" is exactly 1850m and always is 1850m from that particular course’s start position.
