Okay it is just outside but the M25 is just over a mile away. I refer you of course to Monday’s meeting at Northaw which is a wee oasis of green between Waltham Cross and Potter’s Bar.

If you go by bus which is what I will be doing (you can go green, I can’t drive), Trusty bus 242 leaves stand D of Waltham Cross bus station at 12.17, passes Cuffley station at 12.37 and arrives in the vicinity of the course at 12.40 (look for a fella with a red rucksack, that will be me).

From Potters Bar station point A a bus leaves at noon and arrives in the vicinity around ten minutes later. Track is the Cuffley side of the village.

First race is 2.00 and there are 85 entries. They are doing all they can to ensure the best possible going with the help from the rain we have had in the locality.

Full details can be found on the PointingEA website.

Enjoy yourself, Bob! The Area riders’ championships look in the bag for Rupert Stearn and the hugely promising Georgina Andrews, but there should still be plenty to play for in the novices’ equivalents.

I’ll be at Hackwood Park as usual, hoping the splendid Carryonharry contests the Ladies Open there rather than the similar race at Godstone 24 hours earlier. Oh, and there’ll be Rhythm King and Walcot Lad even if the first-named doesn’t make it!
