Shoemark was drawn in 1 in the centre to far side of the course and ended up on the stand rails – even ignoring the winner, he gave her far too much to do and all things considered she has done well to finish 4th.

It is always a bug bear of mine in that just because you are on a hold up horse, doesn’t mean you have to sit right out the back of the field.

Finished fourth but the first two were well clear.

She was pretty much that far behind the winner from the outset – interesting to note that Gosden just said he was kept in training to be Inspiral’s lead horse.

    Nice dart. Well done.

As I keep saying it’s the only chance you have to win at the game. A pin as much use as a form book. The game has become an absolute joke.

I heard Alce Haynes on Racing TV describing the breed as getting weaker – something I have long thought – and I wonder if that is having a considerable bearing on so many bookmaker friendly results. It’s been happening at all levels.

Thanks folks. He usually hangs left but the field were to his right…so he stayed straight-ish :good: It helps that he likes front running rather than having to be booted out of his stride like a Ballydoyle sacrificial lamb, Havlin just let him bowl along in a nice rhythm and the uncontested lead was obviously a massive help with that.

Glad the Witcher got the ew for you Nathan.

The race has also been known to throw up shock results – I remember back when the odds on In The Grove got turned over by Lester on Polar Falcon

You also have to think that Rab Havlin will have secretly ehjoyed the hell out of that win.

I can’t agree. As I said on another thread just now, from June onwards when horses have run and form lines start to take shape i find it becomes a bit easier. Before that horse fitness isn’t certain.

The plan was to make everyone think Shoemark was the new number 1. Went from 33’s to 22’s in a matter of seconds. That was after being 66s earlier. To be fair to Inspiral, she needed every yard of that 10f in the breeders cup, this’ll tee her up for another go at 10.

Well done to the winners today, and Nath on the place. Havlin’s made me look a right mug not for the first time (the mug bit not Havlin). The jury is still out on Shoemark for me, huge boots to fill and I’m not sure he’s the man for that job. I’m flummoxed by the race to be honest hard to know what to make of it. It might be easier to find the Queen Anne winner than predict who the favourite will be lol

Having had time to watch the race again I have to agree TinMan that Shoemark is definitely not the right jockey for Inspiral she just didn’t go for him. Such a different riding style to Dettori, he would never have given her so much to do.

From 2 furlongs out she was the first to be shaken up and he gave her a reminder which she clearly didn’t like and veered to the right. You would have thought he’d have got the message she wasn’t happy but no she got another reminder and another the jockey looked desperate putting lots of pressure on her and expecting her to produce a finish for him.

John Gosden didn’t sound downbeat saying she’d come on plenty for it and that ‘he was pleased’. Probably jockey instructions to move right and go Big Rock’s side. Time will tell if horse and jockey pair up well in the future (assuming she is still as good as before).

Wasn’t shoemarks fault she just never turned up on the day

She’s won plenty of races coming from the rear

All of the jockeys messed up ignoring audience, once it was clear big rock was struggling they were all in the wrong place

She can have an off day at times
Ran a complete stinker when something like 1/7 on
Think that was after some time off the track too.. off the top of head
