The horse I really really fancy for this is [b:2v3sddd6]Tidal Bay[/color:2v3sddd6][/b:2v3sddd6].
Big Bucks had a really hard race at Chelts, always hits a flat spot, well i know he didn’t last time he absolutely lagged up in a laughing canter, but he kind of runs flat doesn’t he and although rated an absolute mile clear of Tidal Bay and everything else, I think on this better ground and with his canine abilities Tiday Bay really can go with the fav after the last. Sure Big Bucks is better on better ground, and has speed to burn as well as awesome class, but, if Tidal Bay is there at the last, well, he’ll be miles behind and he’ll be at the last on his own, but he still can sprout wings and win for sure. Great each way bet with everything in his favour.Any views?

April 6, 2010 at 11:21 #287880hehe a light-hearted summary of the World Hurdle thread, just to engage a straight-forward race. Mind you, you never know….

I shall stay Loyal to Tidal Bay,like the majority of my horses,he owes me nothing!
April 6, 2010 at 12:35 #287902Big fan of Tidal Bay at around 11/2, hoping for a back to form run though.
April 6, 2010 at 13:05 #287909Good grief
April 6, 2010 at 15:41 #287941Big Bucks will win this so easy
April 6, 2010 at 17:11 #287970Despite BB winning this last year, it’s common knowledge that Cheltenham winners do poorly at Aintree; e.g. Inglis Drever. At 2/5, it’s either a no bet or a punt at one of the others, Tidal Bay may fit the bill perfectly at 8/1 at a course he likes.
April 6, 2010 at 17:37 #287981rich, he had a much, much harder race in last year’s World Hurdle, then came here and
gave 8lbs
to Mighty Man and still slapped him easy. This time round he had a very easy time against rubbish and again meets rubbish off
levels
.
Hope this helps!!

Ahh, Inglis Drever never really ran to his Cheltenham form at Aintree though did he. Whereas Big Bucks put up a better performance in this last year than his Cheltenham win in my eyes.
April 6, 2010 at 18:02 #287990BB – of course BB is the best horse in the race and will probably win, but at 2/5 and the stakes that I use, it’s a no bet for me – will go for Tidal Bay ew just for interest. BB is probably the best pound for pound (to use the boxing analogy) horse around at the moment and is a privilege to watch and admire.
April 6, 2010 at 18:07 #287993ok mate understood, no bet for me either just hoping for a clean round!!
April 6, 2010 at 18:11 #287994Indeed – a great horse and hopefully performance to start off this great festival, just a shame that its on the BBC…looking forward to Baby Run if he runs…

Very difficult to imagime Big Buck’s getting beat. Tidal Bay could run a stormer but just as easily spit the dummmy out now the novelty of going back to hurdles has worn off.
Time For Rupert is consistant and improving but his chances of beating Big Bucks must be slim in comparison to his price.
Bouglar hasn’t run since running well behind Souffleur on very bad ground at Haydock.
He shone here last season when beating Copper Blue in a ding dong battle over 2m4f and is definitely a better horse on half decent ground.
He missed Cheltenham, he’s tough, like the course and this isn’t all that great a race. Backing him EW may be throwing half your stake away but he should be worth a bet on the machine for a place.

Well, it’s nice to know my horse is "rubbish" Big Bucks. I’m guessing you’ve never owned a horse because if anyone who had would never dream of saying something so hurtful.
All I can say is that Bouggler is "rubbish", an awful lot of people — you included — would like to own such rubbish!
As far as taking on Big Buck’s and the others in the race is concerned, they are truly outstanding horses and all we can hope is that Bouggler runs well ,enjoys himself and comes home safe. He’s only a five-year-old and I would have thought next season could be his year.
But you can only dream can’t you?
I hope you all enjoy Aintree and keep your fingers crossed for us on Thursday.
Bouggler owner
April 6, 2010 at 19:57 #288038Just racing talk, squire, I’ve no need to use too much grace when forming a strong opinion on a race.
Not sure what owning a horse has to do with my opinion but your horse is lovely, I’ve backed him before too, and wish you all the best, no need to get offended but your choice of course! Good luckers!

Daft to write off Tidal Bay, imo.
With the small field, no guaranteed pace, probable good ground and the sharp track, he will certainly be a much bigger threat to Big Bucks than he ever was at Cheltenham and, if they do dawdle, no surprise at all for him to do the favourite for toe.
Looks nailed on for a place, at least. -
