“They did the same thing in the Irish Derby two seasons ago.”

That was hilarious and I would have found it even funnier if I hadn’t been on Adelaide River, more fool me.

    “Camelot is still alive.”

You got it. Stay True is their last Galileo but zero sentimentality at Coolmore Towers. Still slightly surprising as Camelot has pretty much been cast as 12f+ dual purpose second string sire by now and one of his progeny winning the Lingfield Derby trial is neither here nor there, and Puppet Master himself is not this year’s Messiah.

Only watched the races today forward winding the rest of the programme. When I saw the Derby trial I knew Kingscote hadn’t given his all. I didn’t bother watching the aftermath knowing nothing would be said. I wouldn’t have been happy if I’d backed the second.

You don’t get this with Godolphin they are all in it to win.

Not a good look was it. Won’t inspire much confidence backing any of the other yards runners in the Derby and inevitably there will be several. We’ve seen it down the years horses given no chance as pacemakers in the Derby. Fair enough if they are advertised as such but they often aren’t.

I learned not to bet in any race where any trainer has more than one entry many years ago.

I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highways

2017 Wings OF Eagles and 2020 Serpentine weren’t 1st string and won, and in 2022 the 1st string finished behind a stablemate. So it’s possible that when it comes to the big race itself it’s different to the trials.

“Weaver is all over the place trying to defend Kingscote.”

In case anyone missed it, as I did at the time. ITV ought to be embarrassed.

I see Ms Mayor is back as well.

The man from Del Monte , he say there’s nothing to see here , you’ve got to remember Coolmore are all about breeding not about winning derby’s , that a bonus …

I doubt many of the French horses were subjected to a race being run like that – the invaders had 4 of the first 5 home.
