When Kingscote knew he was against the Coolmore first string did he try his hardest?

Well, racing is trying to copy Formula One these days.

Maybe he was just following team instructions. 🤷‍♂️

Gave the horse several smacks with the whip before the 1F pole and then when Moore drew alongside (on the stable’s No.1) inside the 1F pole he simply put his whip down and rode hands and heels to the line – outside of dropping his hands, you couldn’t get a more blatantly attempt of not trying to achieve the best possible position.

Nothing will be said because he didn’t technically fail to ride out to the finish line but that was an absolute joke.

As the saying goes, Richard knows which side his bread’s buttered. ;-)

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

Ed Chamberlain picked up on this quickly but Weaver soon shut him down claiming they both rode out the finish is a similar style. What wasn’t mentioned was the “air shot” clearly picked up on a close-up head on.

The more I know the less I understand.

I was on the runner up as don’t rate Puppet Master much.

Kingsgote made a mess of things in the early stages. Should have tucked the horse in and ended up way too wide at the first bend for not doing that.

He then stopped riding to his max once Moore got up along sides.

Those 2 horses will never finish in that order ever again when in the same race.

Weaver is all over the place trying to defend Kingscote.

Just because the two horses have had the cush used a similar amount of times means nothing.
Puppet Master does not need much for him to show what he can do… And Ryan was also cramped for room – couldn’t use the whip.
Richard had plenty of room to use his… And if looking at Stay True’s only run previously… You’ll see he was under pressure some way out but found loads to win. Stay True is a Leger type and in all probability would have found more in the final 100 yards had he been put under a more vigorous ride.

Why is anyone surprised? They did the same thing in the Irish Derby two seasons ago.

Weaver claims the fourth air shot was the fourth hit even though a head on shown on the programme clearly shows it made no contact.

ITV Racing’s pundits didn’t call out an iffy ride by Shoemark last week.

They defended Murphy’s ride at Newcastle.

Why would they have anything to say here and risk upsetting the most powerful racing operation in Europe, maybe in the whole world?

It’s a cosy little club. And as Mr Davies used to tell us, the best pundit is a combination of your own eyes and ears and the mute button.

A Heffernan type humdinger was always a likely scenario here.

Not seen the replay but i thought he whipped the horse again near the finish.

    Of course Ginge,
Aidan is no fool, what’s the point in talking up stallion prospects for them to have a 2nd next to their name when it doesn’t have to
Obviously The Lion in Winter wins the Derby so this was Puppet Masters cup final

Mike – Think it was stated that when viewed from the head on camera that it was an actual air shot (that could have been for show to  ) – the uses he had before the 1F pole were full on from the shoulder level strikes.
