I used to love going to Lingfield not great stuff most of the time but fairly reasonable and a nice place. Then they went AW mad. Tomorrow was advertised as a turf meeting I thought nice I might have some of that but no half the meeting is on the dreaded AW. To make things even worse I swear the trainers entering there don’t even notice there are some turf races as a huge number come with AW form. It’s all just too awful for words they even manage to stick in an NH flat race on bloody stuff at the jump meetings. At least we stuffed Northern Racing/Arena at Folkestone because they won’t get planning permission and they’re stuck with an agricultural value field they don’t know what to do with Couldn’t happen to nastier people!

What does it matter what is under their feet they are they same horses aren’t they?
July 17, 2015 at 20:53 #1138650The course’s explanation is that the bend into the home straight on the turf course becomes slippery as the evening draws in due to dew and damp air , therefore AW must be utilised on safety grounds. Thus only the straight chute up to a mile on turf is used for evening meetings. Make of that explanation what you will.
