According to Jonjo, Exotic Dancer has three options for his next race…
Letheby & Christopher Chase – January 24
Aon Chase – February 22
Irish Hennessy – February 23The Letherby & Christopher could offer a potential clach with Tidal Bay, whilst a crack at the Aon will set up a mouth-watering clash with Denman.
December 29, 2008 at 23:58 #200273I apologise if I took you up wrong, but the way you write it’s hardly surprising you’re misunderstood sometimes. For the record I didn’t back the horse.
the way i write is up to me, the way u sound is up to you??regardless what i think of you..!!and yes halfway you got what point i was trying to make lol x

And a tilt at the Irish Hennessy could set up a rematch with ‘Nippy’
December 30, 2008 at 13:42 #200366Just watched a recording on ATR. NC was anything but beat 2 out, and whilst the SJ lad exaggerated his likely manner of victory had he stood up, I do think it is equally misleading to suggest ED would have won anyway – especially given the suspicion that horse is not the keenest to go through with his effort when push comes to shove.
Do you think he was travelling the best? IMO Ruby was beginning to get after the horse before he fell.

December 30, 2008 at 15:20 #200381McCoy said he would’ve definitely won anyway. To be honest I can’t understand the debate it looks clear cut to me.
December 30, 2008 at 16:01 #200388I have not seen the race but:
Just because a horse is travelling better at the time does not mean he definately would’ve won. You would expect a horse capable of top class form at 2 1/2 miles, to be travelling better 2 out in a 3m race; than one who likes a test of stamina at 3m 1/4 miles.

Perhaps, however watch the race, I don’t think ED would have been beaten.

December 30, 2008 at 16:32 #200395There is no doubt in my mind that Exotic Dancer would have won the race if Neptune Collonges had not fallen. I backed NC and had already accepted my fate before the fall. McCoy was cantering on Jonjo’s enigmatic "star"

Obviously not saying it was in this case John, without seeing it.

Value Is EverythingDecember 30, 2008 at 17:02 #200402I was there. Ruby was just about to get after Neptune but AP had taken a pull out of Exotic and I have no doubt Exotic would have won easily. Was delighted for the horse – deserved a big pot and in the morning he looked the only decent value in the race to me anyway at 5/1 or so.
December 30, 2008 at 18:07 #200418Having watched "Exotic" closely for a number of years i would say without
hesitation that when he is in the right mood he could beat anything!(except "Kauto") His 2nd to "Kauto" in the Gold cup was a going day but he was beaten fair and square, and again in the Betfair when there was only1/2l between them. His Paddy Power and Boylesport victories were
both the real deal as was his Betfair bowl at Aintree and his Pillar chase
where "Neptune" again fell! Anyone who knows "Exotic" knows he would have loomed upto "Neptune" swingin and once Ruby got serious, A.P would have taken a long P.Eddery style look a bit like the "Rainbow Quest" against "Old Country" one and merely teased the old "monkey"
to win by 1/2l Thats when you know he"s on one of his going days!
When he"s not he finds nothing and sulks! I still Love him and he is
surprisingly bigger in the flesh than on TV! Would make a fine National
winner!December 31, 2008 at 17:55 #200643For those who backed Neptunes, do not despair – the writing was on the wall and he would not have won.

December 31, 2008 at 22:55 #200687oh whatever zippy……………………..lol
January 1, 2009 at 14:15 #200775I think the majority people would agree Beckie including Ruby that Neptune wouldn’t have won. Perhaps he was flattered by his proximity to Kauto Star in the Gold Cup and on that run you would have to say he was.
However a point in his favour is Jonjo has indicated he would rather run Exotic Dancer somewhere other than the Gold Cup and avoid Denman Kauto and Neptune and possibly run him in the Ryanair or go to Ireland.
SRO may have something to say about that though but I’m sure he will go with whatever Jonjo suggests.
Can’t win them all Beckie but you have a horse who’s still 3rd fav for the Gold Cup and no one is writing him off……………Be happy and take the bad with the good girl……..like Big Arnie said, he’ll be back
January 1, 2009 at 18:10 #200814yea for once i agree with u fist lol but actually ruby told owners he thought he would av won, but no point goin over it i guess we will never know m8, spose it life ha ha happy new year everybody xx
