The final two races here at Leicester have been abandoned due to slippery ground on the far bend.

It is also ver dark here as well

Hmmm…a bit of deja vu here. I was at Leicester for the May Bank Holiday meeting, when the last race was abandoned for the very same reason.

It’s becoming a recurrent theme at Leicester – the writing was on the wall after the third race when Tamara Moon slipped on the bend and fortunately stayed on her feet.

The decision making was somewhat farcical. the inspection team actually went down to the far bend by coach. then then came back and had a long debate.

The problem would have been they took so long to come to a decision that had they decided to go ahead, the final race would probably have ended up being cancelled due to the light anyway.

I think on course the only surprise was it took so long to actually reach the decision.

I don’t know what the answer is – the far bend is tight and rain after a longish dry spell is going to cause problems.
