A few years ago there was a rumour that the jumps finale day at sandown would be moved to Cheltenham but nothing came of it for the time being.
This year the finale day is an all jumps card, has an increase in prize money they also had a long 2for1 ticket offer and they are even laying a free train forom Waterloo so the bean counters at JCR will be disappointed if they don’t improve on the usual 12,000 attendance.
It still wouldn’t surprise me if when the new stand is built they don’t move the day to Cheltenham in the knowledge they could double the attendenceApril 22, 2014 at 10:04 #476513I would be disappointed if they moved it as Sandown is THE home of the Whitbread. Although as a jumps rather than flat man i am not a big fan of mixed meetings i always thought it worked on Whitbread day.
As for Cheltenham it has more than enough big meetings as it is.
And finally the BHB still have to come up with a better finish to the NH season and then a decent break before the start of the new season.
April 22, 2014 at 23:29 #476591You may have a point but I hope it doesn`t happen.
Too much Cheltenham becomes unappealing and I`ve not wanted to go there this season.
The transfer of the mares chase final to Cheltenham last week seemed to be a dismal failure.April 27, 2014 at 12:04 #477044We’ll you got to give 10/10 for sandown yesterday 12000 crowd and it was so much better have in full card to watch instead of having to go home after 4 races.
Sadly I witnessed a moron openly urinating in the car park after racing which made me glad I don’t set foot on racecourse until November when it’s way to cold for these inbreds to attendApril 28, 2014 at 00:12 #477105So they do not have porta potties close to the parking?
