All week we’ve been buying the Sun and the Mirror and used their free bets with Ladbrokes and William Hill. If your bet wins with William Hill’s you get your stake money back..however, if you win with Ladbrokes they deduct the ‘free’ bet from your winnings. Very sneaky imo.

Hate the road the bookies have gone down with ‘free bets’ nowadays.

No longer is it just a simple free bet, there always seems to be a catch. It’s one thing I’d like to see the bookies banned from doing, either offer a straightforward no-nonsense easy to understand free bet where it is actually what it says on the tin…or not at all.

These big adverts of £50 free bets look well and good, until you read the small print and realise you have to turn the money over 4000 times before you can actually collect anything.

It’s totally wrong IMO and should be banned by RFC..

Not to mention Paddy Power’s ‘Money Back Specials’ which with one notable exception were little more than no runner no bet.

Still, I can’t criticise them for their Dunguib money back special.

I’ve taken advantage of many a free bet and have never been required to turn over a certain amount before being able to withdraw any winnings. The only ‘free bets’ to which such restrictions usually apply are those for online casinos.

As for deducting the free bet stake from any returns, hasn’t that always been the case? Giving you a no-risk opportunity to bet is all well and good, but I don’t see that bookmakers should have to reimburse you for a non-existent outlay.

If ‘calculate your winnings as normal and then deduct the stake’ is too complicated then the world really is in trouble.
