The colt won the prestigious accolade at the 24th annual Cartier Racing Awards ceremony in London.
There can’t be much debate about his being a deserving winner, surely? The only other option would have been Treve and that would be based on her Arc victory alone.

how
brilliant.
Was pleased to see Noble Mish get the older horse award too.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
November 12, 2014 at 11:55 #494977Kingman was probably the right winner this year given the line-up, but that’s indicative of a poor year for flat racing overall. Matched against any of the winners since 2008, I think he’d be a distant second.
It’s inevitable though. We’ve been spoiled by having Zarkava, Sea The Stars, Goldikova, Frankel and Treve. You’ve got to expect the odd Dylan Thomas, Fantastic Light or Kingman year.

Whilst I agree with your general point, I believe that Kingman would’ve beaten all of those bar Frankel and maybe Zarkava over a mile.
November 12, 2014 at 23:04 #495003Kingman was exceptional, well deserving of this accolade. These things are generally biased towards 10-12f horses so it’s good to see a miler recognised. My view? He’d have had Goldikova for breakfast, good as she was.

What cheesed me off was when, on C4 Racing 3 or 4 weeks ago, Mr Gosden mentioned how Kingman was over his throat infection and was "bouncing around" at Juddmonte. It came across as like saying "Kingman is back to his best now and could easily train on next year but the owner is playing asshole".
November 15, 2014 at 08:12 #495199The main award for Flat Horse of the year is in the annual TRF Awards and Tiggy Wiggy would be a deserving winner says Richard Hannon Jr.

Person who had a lot to do with a brilliant horse, saying he’s glad it is over a physical problem and telling people who may also be interested that the horse is ok. Wow, what a big shock that is… not.
People will see what they want to see.
