Only Unibet with this priced up at the moment, and my early fancy not listed anyway.
Early shout is The Goffer, who’s out at Thurles today. Bit disappointing in The Martin Pipe, but I think he’s better than that, and hoping for more improvement in this run, after a quiet enough introduction over fences. If he runs well today, all good, and if he bombs out badly, then no harm done. I’d also like his stablemate Call Me Lyreen, but not convinced this is the route he’ll take. Worth keeping tabs on anyway.
Lining up against The Goffer is From
The Ashes, and I’ll be watching his progress too this year. Not out of the question that he could find the right improvement for something like this. Two horses with more experience who could come into this are Commodore and Time To Get Up. Big fan of the pair of them, and if things don’t go their way in initial runs this season, then they could come here well handicapped. Both of them would make big appeal Antepost, but I’ll see how the season goes with them.
Pure Genius another one, but no idea of his wellbeing, or if he’s still in training, and this might be too big an ask after his setback last year. Stablemate Batcio might be a more interesting one.
Batcio, Commodore, and Time To Get Up would be just off the head of the shortlist themselves, but obviously all about what mark they’re on come March.
First things first, hoping for a decent run from The Goffer
The Goffer

He did not let you down, VTC.
November 24, 2022 at 19:02 #1624380He certainly didn’t Cork, and delighted with that.
I’m now worried he won that a little too well though, and I’ll cover him for National Hunt Chase now, once he’s added.

November 26, 2022 at 11:23 #1624580I think the standard of jockeyship varies more in amateur riders’ races than in professional contests.
I couldn’t have a bet in this until I knew for sure who was riding the horse.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 18, 2023 at 21:07 #1631483Thanks Ben, just wish I could’ve got a price beforehand (or even now), but it’s maybe for the best, as that run opened up a few other avenues.
The Goffer available at 25’s after his very average run at Warwick.
Off 138 now, and though I couldn’t be mad on him after that run, I’d already bet him 14’s NRNB beforehand, so added a few quid extra at 25’s anyway.
The Goffer 14’s NRNB/25’s
Call Me Lyreen given a mark of 141, and though his jumping would have to improve, he’s another I’d be interested in.

February 5, 2023 at 16:04 #1634094Guys, he might struggle to get in now, though hope I’m wrong obviously.
My main chunk is on the NRNB, but I’ve taken an early profit, cashing out the 25’s.
Really nice horse, who should be a feature in big handicaps for the next few years if staying found.
February 5, 2023 at 16:09 #1634098Unless I’m mistaken, the Kim Muir is a 0-145. Seeing that The Goffer has won off 138 today, I can’t see him being qualified for the Kim Muir.
February 5, 2023 at 16:17 #1634102You might be right.
February 23, 2023 at 14:21 #1636671As expected, plenty jump out here, and I’ll definitely have at least two come the day.
Took that early profit on The Goffer, and also my NRNB stake on him, and put it the way of Panic Attack.
She’s a horse I really like, and been on my radar since her run at Haydock last year. I wasn’t actually that impressed last time, but overall I just like her attitude, and I do think she needs at least three miles. I’ll have a better idea where I stand tomorrow, as she’s due to run at Warwick.
The Goffer was one of my few big Anteposts this year, so with dodging a bullet with him, I’ve put it all the way of Panic Attack. If it doesn’t go my way tomorrow, I’ll try my best to sit tight on the race, but as it’s The Kim Muir, I couldn’t guarantee it. There’ll definitely be at least one more.
Panic Attack 25’s NRNB
March 10, 2023 at 12:58 #1638345Next Destination @ 14/1 NRNB
So sad how things have gone for him the last few years with obvious problems, i could of seen him running ok in a Gold Cup. Surely they would have him in a field somewhere if there was no hope left for him.
March 10, 2023 at 21:58 #1638412I’ll be on Beauport and Angels Dawn on the day. Not a race I have an awful lot of luck in, with exception to Cause of Causes capping off a rather memorable day for me in 2016.
I can easily see Stumptown hosing up here, but I can’t have him at the prices.
March 15, 2023 at 00:43 #1639340Beauport for me too Peter.
Second year in a row on this that I’ve not been that strong on anything, sad having got ahead from The Goffer, I should stick, but I’ll add the outsider Western Zara definitely, and looking at Ballykeel too
Beauport
Western Zara EW 6plsMarch 15, 2023 at 18:30 #1639616VtC, that is actually nicely played with The Goffer, that’s the way to do it. Western Zara is an interesting call, but I’m going for the boring Codd angle with Dunboyne
Rapper is my ew bet
