Yeah, one of the worst jumper of fences you’ll ever see considering his hurdling ability.
He has the potential to ruin a lot of high class races with his erratic behaviour even after falling.
The way he jumped at Cheltenham was pathetic, bumped almost every horse until finally bringing down Elixir D’Ainay and they still decided to send him chasing.

Oh dear, the late jockey change probably key there. AF looks like a horse with a dodgy technique who you’d need to know inside out – feel for Deadly Danny having yet another failure when called up.

Stating the obvious, but you’ve got to like Envoi Allen however good he is. Very much like Best Mate in his technique and ability to make jumping look very easy.

I can’t find any flaws with him , I don’t normally back odds on but he should have been shorter so I played

That’s a bit harsh on Danny Mullins, ship. Ruby’s analysis post race was that he saw the stride and asked the horse up so it wasn’t his fault.

He won the G1 in Limerick at Christmas on Colreevy when AF hit the deck last time. Don’t know what you mean by “yet another failure” – is that because he didn’t win on Pont Aven yesterday? That horse started longer than Fan de Blues, who had been Townend’s choice before he got hurt.

No, I think he gave Pont Aven a fine ride – looked pretty much optimal on the sectionals I’ve seen.

I’ve run a few ProForm reports that have Danny Mullins in the bottom 15% of established jumps Irish jockeys in the last 5 years by a few different measures. From memory he also had a few high profile failures when de facto no.1 during Townend and Walsh’s previous injury stretches.

I wonder if the horse is a bit like Master Tommytucker in that you can’t ‘ask’ him and need to let him work it out. Since Ruby doesn’t school horses any more as far as I am aware, perhaps he wouldn’t know AF’s foibles.

Could be. Not pleasant to ride when they insist they know better, won’t accept any help…then balls it up.

Not for a second blaming Danny Mullins for that fall, but i would tend to agree, he’s the one i’d least like to see take a ride for Mullins of the usual riders.

Envoi Allen was super impressive but glad I went with Fils Doudaires at 25/1 as it paid much more for an ew coming 2nd than I would have got if I went for the win bet on Envoi so great result for me.
