They’ve both been there and done it before, now all roads lead to Cheltenham once again.
Who is going to come out on top?
Vote and post.
February 14, 2010 at 16:18 #276628Kauto Star.
February 14, 2010 at 16:22 #276629I’ve always been in the Kauto Star camp, theres not a horse around who can touch a 100% Kauto imo.
February 14, 2010 at 19:32 #276687I still think Denman can return………id be more confident if Nicholls didnt train Denman though at this moment.

February 14, 2010 at 19:37 #276690The King will hold onto his throne.
Denman will be second.
Only question is – who do I put in my tricast?

Kauto: I’ll slay my own giant next month!!

February 20, 2010 at 16:06 #278079^^Quality joke. I needed that!! When was the last time Kauto made a mistake / blundered? Of course, Denman will force the mistakes out of him.
Didn’t want to open another thread on this subject, so I’ll ask the question here:
Do You Think Channel Four Are Doing Enough To Promote Kauto Star Vs Denman?
I think Channel Four have (or is it ‘had’) a major responsibility to promote this race and it would be in their best interests to advertise it to as many people, racing enthusiast or not, as possible.
They should have produced a ninety-minute documentary, detailing the respective career of both horses, highlighting their different characters and gathered interviews / opinions from various people working in the yard and the surrounding area in the build-up to Cheltenham. Opinions from the plethora of celebrity racing fans ie Andrew Flintoff, Michael Owen etc would have been a huge bonus.
I would have started the project at Newbury on the morning of the Aon Chase (perhaps starting the documentary with footage of Denman’s unexpected defeat) through to the Friday before Cheltenham. The show could have aired the night before Cheltenham and been given a prime-time slot.
Perhaps they have something planned, but I believe this project would have appealed to both non-racing fans and the enthusiast.

March 8, 2010 at 18:07 #281204Do You Think Channel Four Are Doing Enough To Promote Kauto Star Vs Denman?
Mmmm I’ve been kinda wary of trying to promote horses to the non-racing public since poor old McKelvey.
March 8, 2010 at 19:56 #281227If they’re both right, then it’s Kauto hands down.
March 8, 2010 at 20:22 #281234Walsh won’t make the mistake of two years ago, and Kauto will return triumphant again.
March 8, 2010 at 20:33 #281237This may ( or may not ) come as a surprise to Fist.
I have backed Kauto Star to win.
Denman’s Hennessey win had convinced me that he was back to something approaching his best, and as such looked capable of serving it up to Kauto Star again.
However, AP’s questionable ride aside, I thought the horse had gone backwards at Newbury; and to be honest, I became less than enthused about his chances fo him repeating his 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup victory.
If betting on horses has taught me anything over the years, it is this : never put sentiment before hard fact. Bet with your head and not with your heart.
I backed Kauto Star in 2007.
I backed Denman in 2008
I backed Kauto Star in 2009I have already backed Kauto Star in 2010.
If Denman hits 5s or over on the day, I may have an ew saver, but not for sentimental reasons. Definitely not.
