Really liked The Jukebox Man at Newbury, while being a fan of the yard, White Rhino appealed too.
I’ve went for the outsider though, Welcome To Cartries at 16-1. Bit of an underachiever last year, but in this field I thought that he was definitely worth a go at the odds
Welcome To Cartries 16’s

Welcome To Cartries 12/1, as well.
I suspect earlier this month, on his chase debut, was a ‘warm up’.
Hopeful of a surprise in this.Best of luck to all, this festive period.
December 24, 2024 at 19:23 #1716260Or it was turned into a warm up by the very late jockey change – Cobden was ruled out by the racecourse doctor after riding in the previous race. Skelton took his place and rode the obvious front runner from off the pace.
Like both of you, I’ll be backing Welcom to Cartres if that price holds up on Thursday and I can find somewhere to bet. I backed The Jukebox Man at Newbury and was there that day. He went very significantly away to his left at each of the last three fences and a repeat of that would end any chance he has of winning round Kempton. The ground is also a question mark, as Pauling has consistently stated that the horse needs soft ground. He was also pretty adamant in a post race interview at Newbury that he wanted to keep to 2M 4F and was annoyed that the Dipper Chase at Cheltenham on New Years day has been dropped, along with the 2M 4F Grade 1 at the festival
No great surprise if he’s a non runner if the ground continues to dry out.
December 24, 2024 at 19:40 #1716261I think The Jukebox Man could be a star and will absolutely destroy this field.
December 25, 2024 at 23:24 #1716301I agree with GM23 about The Jukebox Man
His run at the festival in the Albert Bartlett was a cracker and he looks built for fences.

December 26, 2024 at 01:00 #1716307As someone who backed The Jukebox Man (win only) to win the Albert Bartlett at a massive price – I want to be on him here. However, although he was impressive at Newbury – jumped boldly and well, he did lug out to the left. If doing that here he could lose quite a bit of ground. I could see him losing this and winning the Broadway… or the Turners. The Albert Bartlett (3m1f) might suggest he’ll improve for 3m, but with his bold quick jumping of the fences at Newbury – I’m less certain he’s going to want 3m over fences.
That said, TJM is the one horse in the race you’d say has the scope to be a Grade 1 winning chaser.
No bet for me.

December 26, 2024 at 13:09 #1716356Is jumping left round Kempton actually any more of a problem than jumping right? The fences are all on the straights (unlike Cheltenham) and the horse should usually find it easier to complete the manoeuvre as there should be no shortage of space and no running rail.

Depends how bad it is. Didnt help L’homme Presse last time he ran here.
December 26, 2024 at 13:30 #1716360Well done Nath and GM
December 26, 2024 at 13:43 #1716361His jumping was phenomenal today.
I honestly think we may just have seen the Brown Advisory winner. Obviously Ballyburn and Dancing City will have something to say about that but this looks a proper Gold Cup horse to me.
