Would loe to see Katchit involved at Cheltenham. Not sure this year is his year but I guarentee coming round the top turn he will be there abouts and guve you a run for his money. May have a small wager on him as he owes me nothing after last year and would love to see hom win

I agree with what DJ said on the other thread. Just think that maybe they missed a trick not campaigning for the order of merit (maybe next year?) as we know he is as tough as nails and would imagine he would be able to regular pick up points as well as win a few good races.

Harchibald will also be carrying my money. He is undoubtedly value and if he is in the right frame of mind – could take a lot of stopping. of course, he could cruise up two out and just not find anything – but that is why you are getting 8’s rather then 9/2 for him

FOF Katchit has run right up to his best form of last season this season so I don’t know where you get "never been at his best all season".

He just simply isn’t good enough end of.

Game, gutsy, consistant – yes, good enough – no. He will not win the Champion Hurdle.

So you think you have seen the best of Katchit do you?

I am not going to go to the trouble of writing all the details again.

If you think for one minute katchit has been anywhere near 100% fit in any race he has ran in this season then that is entirely up yo you. I know differently and that’s all I have to say.

Apart from… Osana may not be good enough? I’m not sure, Sublimity may not be good enough? I’m pretty sure he’s not, Sizing Europe may not be good enough?, I’m pretty sure he is….are sensible opinions…….but to be so bold say a horse who loves Cheltenham and destroyed a field of decent juvinilles at the Festval and repeated it at Aintree, has a heart of a lion, is trained by one of the shrewdest men in the country….. "will not win"……….better you than me mate.

With Straw Bear out, Katchit’s task in Kingwell is a lot easier and he will probably win it comfortably

He should be double odds he his for CH though

24/1 ? yeah right Charlie is your bookie looking in? are you trying to start the biggest ew avalanche in the history of the CH ?

Would be the first 4year old in history to win the race.

Hardly – Azertyuiop won the Kingwell in 2001 as a 4-y-old, coincidentally beating Hors La Loi III, who was the last 4-y-old to win the Supreme Novices Hurdle.

I think FOF was referring to the Champion Hurdle, when he stated that no 4 year old has ever won it.

    Gaz,

The most famous Champion Hurdle winner of all time was a 4-y-old – Brown Jack.

this is my favourite thread ever!!! (and I’m now inclined to include MickMo and FOF as my new best friends)

I’ve said repeatedly that Alan has been taking his time with Katchit this year, whether he’s run to his mark in his races this year is neither here nor there when it comes to his fitness and him demonstrating his best

Tomorrow there can be no excuses

The most telling thing for me (and this comment is bound to attract knockers), is Katchit’s training at home.

Last season as he progressed he worked his way through the pecking order until he was working with My Way (apparently the fastest horse in the yard)… when we went to Newcastle he was no longer working with My Way because he was struggling… he’s back working with MW again and Alan thinks we’re ready with him – ergo he’s up to a level now that should see him looking well, travelling well and with plenty left in the tank at the end

The only possible fly in the ointment is Ameretto Rose as far as I can see, she may well have improved since last year but by how much

everything else should be a distance away

As for the CH, we still think we have a live contender, genuinely believe that we can reverse the form on Osana, and will have to see whether Sublimity, Sizing Europe and Harchibald can get up the hill quicker than us!

BY the way – if we get beaten tomorrow I’ll gonna have to join another forum

Who then wasted his time winning the Queen Alexandra Stakes……

..I wonder how many Champion Hurdles he could have won??

    CH 2007

Detroit City – the most over rated horse in race and should have been double his price

    CH 2008

Katchit – the most over-rated horse in race and should be double his price

    Is it called Groundhog Day??

    Katchit,

On this season’s evidence, being able to work with My Way De Solzen doesn’t sound like a recommendation!

Reminds me of Jim Old preparing Mole Board for the Champion Hurdle and telling the press that he’d worked well with a stable companion called Cradle Of Jazz in a racecourse gallop. Cradle Of Jazz was a lowly rated hurdler with a losing run as long as Quixall Crosset, so nobody was that impressed.

can’t disagree with the sentiment of your point – but MWDS hasn’t suddenly become a bad horse and all I’m trying to say is that when it comes to the quality of Ks work at home, it’s improved again

……………the evidence would tend to suggest that is exactly what’s happened, Katchit! 8)

Harchibald is becoming the forgotten horse in the CH. He is the best value of the field for me.. 9/4 the place is almost buying money. Osana will ensure they go a strong clip and that’s what Harchibald needs.

He’s still only nine even though he’s been around a long time and he looks back to his 05 peak which is more than good enough to place.

I can see harchi and sublimity stalking sizing europe after he goes on from Osana… After that anyone’s guess really!!

I totally agree this. he travels so well that its impossible not to see him being bang there coming to the last.

Whether he finds much off the bridle thereafter is any1’s guess, but it makes 9/4 the place a steal

Katchit has NO chance of winning the Champion Hurdle this year. Wait, that is a bit harsh, he does have a chance but with likes of Sizing Europe, Osana, Harchibald and Sublimity all in the field I fear little Katchit won’t figure in the first three home. If you’ve backed him you’ll certainly get run for your money but he’ll be up against it in this company.

Harchibald for me assuming his a*se doesn’t collapse (again) once he comes off the bridle
