Just broke his left hind leg as he crossed the line riderless in the 3.45 at Ascot. RIP.
November 3, 2012 at 16:13 #419018RIP. The Irish just don’t have much luck when they bring their horses over to Ascot. Remember last year when they also had the favourite for the 3m race – Bideford Legend – and the horse was also fatally injured.
November 3, 2012 at 19:31 #419041This was a real shame as he unseated at the third fence, then continued to jump around with the rest of the runners. Hard to say when the injury actually occurred, but the result was obvious at the finish. Poor guy.
November 3, 2012 at 20:20 #419051What a shame that no one has noticed his injury. Not Holt and no one from the RP. I mean he ran riderless in about 4th position and the broken hind leg was quite obvious. What were they looking at?
Anyway, this doesn’t matter any more in this case.November 4, 2012 at 10:11 #419085What a shame that no one has noticed his injury. Not Holt and no one from the RP. I mean he ran riderless in about 4th position and the broken hind leg was quite obvious. What were they looking at?
Anyway, this doesn’t matter any more in this case.I was surprised when ATR showed the replays, both normal and head on, and didn’t mention it. Admittedly I didn’t see much of the after race stuff as I was upstairs seeing to a sick hubby so whether anyone finally caught it and mentioned it I can’t say. I suspect RP missed it because he unseated so early and they weren’t really watching him after that. But it was pretty difficult to miss imho as he crossed the line with the third/fourth placed horses iirc.
November 4, 2012 at 13:14 #419115Horrible tale. RIP

I only turned my back for a week, shocked again how many have gone in such a short time. I really don’t think it’s the ground as it has not been extremely wet or dry, but something is badly wrong.
Could it be that horses which have had the summer off are running not totally fit and tiring/ making more mistakes? Or just unsuitable horses being sent jumping?
November 4, 2012 at 17:30 #419152Such a sad story, poor Kalellshan, so many injuries sustained this year I find it hard to watch, but it is so nice to come here and know that so many of us care about horses to pay a respect to their memories is the least we can do..RIP and condolences to all connections
