Would love to see COT back over 1m4f in the BC Turf but I guess they’re going to make absolute tits of themselves in the Classic as usual.
I’ll easily take him on in the Classic as don’t think he’ll even make the frame. You have to be trained on dirt to race on dirt.

August 21, 2024 at 16:04 #1705246A “normal race”, as in a race / day that didn’t have the remnants of a hurricane up their backsides that greatly helped the prominent (and in particular the front) runner.
City Of Troy did it from the front, Ghostwriter raced prominently, Calandagan came from the back so was at a disadvantage given the wind. Nothing else showed their form.

Agree GM. I hope they don’t go down that route but I expect they will.
August 21, 2024 at 16:07 #1705248Aidan should keep that one “normal race” as an excuse for future reference
Was the hurricane against COT down the back straight where others could take cover ??

August 21, 2024 at 16:08 #1705249I’m on at 8s for the classic
I think if he ran I’d like to see him try and avoid the kick backBlackbeard to conquer the World
August 21, 2024 at 16:13 #1705250tbh Coolmore have Rodin for a repeat in the Turf and maybe LA too.
So the Breeders Cup Classic makes sense.Value Is EverythingAugust 21, 2024 at 16:28 #1705253Winner did it well enough, quickened off his own pace and always looked the winner from two out. Strong in numbers but not convinced about the strength of the race, but you can only beat what’s there.
Impressed with Calandagan who did really well coming from off the pace and I’d be seriously interested in him for ‘The Arc’. Stays 1m 4f well, goes left or right handed and has shown he can act on fast and in the heavy.
August 21, 2024 at 16:30 #1705254The biggest reason to go for the Classic is the level of oppo. There is no real standout, Dornoch has established himself a bit (albeit way behind in Kentucky), the rest are a mish mash, so much so that Thorpeda Anna who has been beating up fillies all year is 3/1 fav for the Travers this sat.
August 21, 2024 at 16:30 #1705255He’s not eligible for the Arc rob.
August 21, 2024 at 16:31 #1705256City of Troy was never going to be held up. Stamina is a big strength of his so if the hurricane was such an advantage why didn’t you back him, Ginge…🤔

August 21, 2024 at 16:57 #1705259Throw in Economics (his owner is related to the sponsor of the race) and Leopardstown could end up being the race of the season
August 21, 2024 at 18:29 #1705281O’Brien says City Of Troy is “the best horse I’ve trained”.
Maybe he is actually right this time.
August 21, 2024 at 19:25 #1705286After the International, Timeform have the provisional performance rating as 130 and is still improving.
The best horse trained by O’Brien on Timeform ratings is I believe Hawk Wing @ 136 but that was only one performance, having been injured in his next race. So HW’s rating is at least a little suspect. Interestingly Galileo was rated 134.
Value Is EverythingAugust 21, 2024 at 19:31 #1705287The rating for Hawk Wing was ridiculous.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
August 21, 2024 at 19:55 #1705294Hawk Wing was a crackerjack on his day but, sometimes, I felt as though the horse was running in pain.
August 21, 2024 at 21:42 #1705305“The rating for Hawk Wing was ridiculous”.
Care to tell us why?
