Remember last year when Gosden had his whole team seemingly fully fired up in April, when people talked about him doing a classic clean sweep with Ravens Pass, Infallible, Dar Re Mi and Centennial, after all went well in his april camapign.
Interesting that, ahead of the craven meeting, this year a few of his outsiders are being pecked at in the betting once again, as infallible, centennial and dar re mi were last season. Notably Invisible Man in the 2000 guineas and Mooakada in the Oaks.
Invisible man is intriguing, more so than Mooakada but it will be interesting to see if he has them fully stoked up next week, has already picked up the biggest race on the flat so far with expresso star.
Worth keeping an eye on I think.
April 9, 2009 at 23:00 #221103I am going to scour a book or two, but is April habitually a strong Gosden month?
So many trainers are so very seasonal arent they…

April 9, 2009 at 23:24 #221108Like Bulwark, I remember the ‘frenzy’ surrounding Gosden during the middle of April with people getting very carried away with his good early season form.
Looking back on my records I’ve noted that Gosden’s strike-rate during April was twice that of his strike-rate during May and June of last year.

"Oh Johnny G is Wonderful"Anybody fancy coming to Newmarket to sing this in the winners enclosure? A bit like the Best Mate song? Anyone remember that one? That added something to the moment, I felt.
I’m a bit bored waiting for next week.
April 10, 2009 at 16:00 #221189Might help shake the punting cobwebs off by following this trend.
Mind you, that was a very strong 3YO squad he worked with last year.

Do you know what the stats are for Stoute in May Cav?
I remember a few years ago he went into the oaks with almost every trial winner, and think he also had peeriss win the lockinge that same year. I remember arguing with someone regarding the oaks that year that stoute just looked to be bang in form in may that year. Last year he picked up a fair few of the derby trials with Tajaweed, Dr Freemantle and Tartan Bearer.
Does he usually do well in may?
