Can’t wait for the one and only GALOPIN DES CHAMPS to return here.
Mullins has two others STATTLER is another I like but perhaps wants further and if running here could be a warm up for the Savills later in the month
FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES is better than last years performance, he paid the penalty for trying to keep tabs on Allaho. No Allaho in the field this year but Galopin des Champs could inflict a similar problem for FD’O.Current prices
Galopin Des Champs 1/2
Conflated 11/2
Fakir Doudairies 6
Stattler 12
Fury Roadn 16
French Dynamite 20
Haut En Couleurs 25
Vanillier 33Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 6, 2022 at 18:46 #1626071Where does everyone think Conflated will go come March ? , I’ve tickled some bigger prices in the Ryanair , Galopin has to win this convincingly if he,s a genuine GC horse
December 6, 2022 at 21:39 #1626106172 is a very high OR for a novice chaser.
It’s higher than Constitution Hill was given for winning the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
I like Galopin Des Champs, but I remain to be convinced that he’s all he’s cracked up to me.
For me, he’s a chocolate hob nob still waiting for the chocolate to arrive.

it won’t be a half coated hob nob, it will be chocolate both sides
Willie Wonka’s chocolate factory will run out of chocolate
There will be a chocolate shortage for the rest of the world because Galopin Des Champs will be in his prime and run everything into submission.Charles Darwin to conquer the World

Is that really relevant though? Chase ratings are generally higher than hurdlers in any case right?
I’m fully convinced by him, but i’m not fully convinced by him in a GC. As a hurdler, i’d have said he races fine for a GC, but chasing seems to have made him more exhurberant.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 7, 2022 at 09:56 #1626131Well, it’s obviously relevant to me, Jack, otherwise I wouldn’t have written it.
Gold Cup winners have been rated less than this final-fence Festival faller.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 7, 2022 at 10:18 #1626134I do agree ORs generally seem to go through the roof faster regarding leading chasers as opposed to hurdlers.

The 2nd most exciting horse around behind CH for me, although, while I was certain CH was a superstar the minute the Supreme had finished, I do think GDC has to go out and cement himself as a top horse on Sunday. Bob Olinger wasn’t right last season and Master McShee is hardly on Jonbon or Epatante’s level.
I hope both Conflated and Fakir D’oudairies turn up so we get a good gauge of GDC’s level though I expect the former may wait for the Savills.December 7, 2022 at 14:41 #1626146Good summary from GM23 – that’s pretty much how I feel about the horse.

December 7, 2022 at 17:01 #1626162Nathan, that’s a good call. Mullins has certainly used this race for his Ryanair horses recently, and I’ve a feeling that this is where GDC will go

I did leave a lot of work on for December as more chance of the old Christmas tips
however if the forecast is to be believed, I may have left myself short in getting all the intended work done

December 7, 2022 at 19:35 #1626176Stattler +/or Capodanno would probably need to stake their claim over xmas for that to happen?
Especially with the GC looking very open.
He has a fair few for the Ryanair (not of the Allaho/GDC level but yeah).
As for his form. He’s mullered Gentlemansgame who has proven himself capable enough to finish 3.75ls behind Klassical Dream in an open G1 since.
I’d probably agree his chase form is more about the visuals that the strict form, but it’s a novice division. Bob for all he wasn’t great over fences, was going to get a thump, Busselton and El Barra were miles away. Woulda been nice to see Capodanno stay up last xmas. I really like him.
As for the CH form, he looks a monster there’s no doubting and his Fighting Fifth win backs it up. He hammered Jonbon yep. Right this moment, i don’t hold Jonbon in the esteem some do. I’ve him covered for the Arkle as he’s been hyped to the max, but Boothill? Monmiral? We’ll see.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 7, 2022 at 20:10 #1626179Be interesting to see how he runs
His jumping was definitely less exuberant at fairyhouse after the fall at Cheltenham
May have taught him he needs to be a bit more careful and not wing himself at every fence like he did in the turner’s
One of the most exciting horses in training
Willie seems equally excited about him and facile vega
