Tizzard’s form must concern supporters of Lostintranslation. Defi Du Seuil is a confident nap of the meeting
March 14, 2019 at 01:48 #1401877Of the old rivals Joe, I’d have been on the bold jumping Lostintranslation had the Tizzards been in better form (and had there not been four others in the race that could take him on up front). However, with possible trainer form and pace edges, I’ve backed Defi. Although tbh both Mullins non-Walsh runners are imo the best value here. Think they may have peruaded Walsh to ride VDR because it’s a very tricky ride rather than being the best of the trainer’s three. Townend also rode the same owner’s Arkle winner, so Walsh may not have had the choice. Had Walsh been on Reel Steel he’d imo be disputing favouritism. Pravalaguna may be the third string, but imo isn’t as far behind as betting suggests. As others have said, want to be against Vinndication going left handed. Kildesart comes from a bang in form trainer and almost went for him, but looks more a handicapper than Grade 1 horse. Mengli Khan doesn’t look good enough, Capeland exposed just below top class, ditto Castafiore.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2019 at 07:59 #1401880Mengli Khan was superb in the 2018 supreme when staying on up the hill to get 3rd place, was only beaten 2 lengths on very testing ground. That experience as a 5yo in that race will set him up nicely today on his return to the festival and shows us he handles the festival atmosphere well.
Has excellent form last season including 2nd to get a bird on a right handed track in a grade 2.
Won a fairy house grade 1 last season as well, would have probably won a grade 1 at leopardstown but for running out when Evens fav. Won a grade 3 also.Such a great horse last season who excelled under testing conditions.
Always going to be a top chaser, made a winning chase debut when hacking up on unsuitable good ground at listed level.Has been beaten and disappointed in two grade 1 novice chases at leopardstown this season, 3rd 1 place behind Us and them who was 2nd in the arkle on Tuesday.
Ground is key with this top class horse and finally for the first time this season he gets testing ground, he loves cheltenham, his trainers in form, gigginstown and elliot won this race last year, he will improve massively for the ground and also for the step up in trip.
16/1 is an insult. This is a top top top grade 1 horse who gets his conditions today. The team know what to do. This is my 2nd biggest bet of this years festival (ew), only the legend himself has seen more money from me. I am expecting z huge run today.
I have a smaller ew on KILDISART also who I think will run a very big race. He has a very very very special half brother does this horse.
March 14, 2019 at 08:22 #1401882Voix De Reve’s early season form was good when he beat Hardline. He was only a neck behind Us and Them at Xmas and he was 4 L behind le Richebourg which has worked out well. Puzzled that they stepped him up in trip as he looked a bit keen in his last two races. I backed him 2 weeks ago at 20/1 each way because I couldn’t decide between Def De Seuil and Lost In Translation so I’m delighted Ruby has picked him. If he can get him settled then hopefully he’ll have a chance of grabbing a place.
March 14, 2019 at 08:27 #1401883I like the look of Pravalaguna, I think 16/1 e/w is a solid bet. She
looked very promising last year on her final hurdle race at Punchestown,
winning it doing handstands. She wasn’t particularly promising on her first
go over fences, but after being put away for the season, she came back
out and absolutely hosed up in her 2 starts at Limerick and Naas. The
form of those races is questionable in comparison to those at the head
of the market who have been competing in much stronger fields, but there
may be a lot to still to come with her and with her allowance I fancy her
to run a big race here.March 14, 2019 at 11:57 #1401939DDS
March 14, 2019 at 13:40 #1401969Cracking race, well done winners.
I was delighted to see the Tizzard horse run to form and a big race.
March 14, 2019 at 13:42 #1401971Nice race. Lostintranslation jumped superbe, but just missed the pure speed to hold off Defi du Sueil. I would like to see Lostintranslation over 3 miles next season.
March 14, 2019 at 13:43 #1401972Ditto, Potato.
Think we’re both thankful of the whip there, Joe.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2019 at 14:30 #1401983WD winners, good race by the first two and Mengli Khan jumped much better than I expected.
Also agree with the thoughts re LiT for next year and good to see Tizzard horse going well…would be a pity if his 3 for the gold cup weren’t right so that gives hope that everything will turn up ready to run its race.
March 14, 2019 at 15:10 #1402005I hope you won plenty on him Steeplechasing, well done sir
