Geez my Internet all but froze there were so many punters tuning in…race was over 2 minutes before the pictures got to me but he looked great in slow motion
May 19, 2012 at 14:52 #404758That was him with 10 days off – and needing the race !
He would laugh at Black Caviar.

May 19, 2012 at 15:05 #404761a beast, pure and simple. excelebration, one of the best milers in training, was going flat out yet could not get close to his withers, let alone get past him.
difficult to see what could beat him over a mile/10 furlongs, and Black cavair would make a good lead horse for him in the july cup
May 19, 2012 at 15:26 #404764He is surely unstoppable at a mile? What a beast he looked in the paddock. He will have come on pounds for that race.
I’ve been watching the footage of Black Caviar in between the Frankel hype. I’d say she’s the greatest sprint horse of my generation. Frankel’s by far the greatest miler.
Two truly great horses. Seems simple enough to me.
May 19, 2012 at 17:34 #404776That performance might just be Frankel’s best to date?
I was very impressed by the way Dubawi Gold moved throughout the race. He was always traveling well and you could see him quicken yet without batting an eyelid Frankel has gone in a flash and beat him a couple of lengths further than the norm.
In a lesser race he’d probably have run out a decent winner but he couldn’t even get to Excelebration’s quarters who despite having had a run was beaten Further this time by Frankel than he was in the Queen Elizabeth despite AOB taking over the reins.
Helluva performance.
May 19, 2012 at 18:15 #404785The definition of uncomplicated, hands and heels. What a magnificent horse.
May 19, 2012 at 18:57 #404787He confirmed that he can beat Excelebration and Dubawi Gold. But he did that last year.So what is new for 2012? Two pacemakers and the same old horses.Does he get a higher rating each time he beats those horses? He will be off the charts by the end of the year. For me Sea the Stars beat different horses over different distances ending up with a fabulous Arc,all in his three year old career.Without a pacemaker to settle him.Sorry but he is still the best miler in England and Ireland and no more. When he does it at a mile and two and a mile and four he will be the super horse you so badly want him to be.But not now.
May 19, 2012 at 19:04 #404789Excelebration is, Frankel excepted, the best around at a Mile in Europe. Presumably Usain Bolt is also crabbed as beating the same opponents time and again?
I’m now concluding that anyone crabbing Frankel is either miserable, stupid, or just plain awkward.
May 19, 2012 at 21:00 #404801All the more impressive given the general poor form of Sir Henry’s horses.

Frankel was tremendous today. I know Joni was telling eveyone that he’d win by 4 lengths but with the injury scare I was worried.
Find the poor form of Sir H’s horses very worrying
May 19, 2012 at 21:10 #404804Oh come on Peruvian Chief; we are not resorting to name calling are we?Surely in the adult world we are entitled to disagree with each other.

Yeah fair enough i shouldn’t have posted the name calling, sorry about that.
May 19, 2012 at 21:44 #404807I didn’t think Excelebration had a tough run at all, oh, apart from trying to beat Frankel. To me he had the favours, sat behind Frankel, waited fro Frankel to move before he made his move, not good enough.
Frankel looked great to me, even from "12,000 miles away". He won just as I expected him to.
Why the concern with Frankel re the rest of HC’s stable? Can’t see the correlation, he’s a world apart from every other horse in your part of the world.
May 19, 2012 at 22:07 #404809Oh come on Peruvian Chief; we are not resorting to name calling are we?Surely in the adult world we are entitled to disagree with each other.
If you were an adult sir you would occasionally give respect where it is due. It is fine to disagree but you come across as sour and bitter I’m afraid. Poor show.
You said I should wait until after the race to cheer. Well I am cheering now.
Frankel has PROVED he has trained on.
Frankel has PROVED that he is at least a length better than last year’s incredible form (quite possibly more considering he was injured and was having his first run of the season).
Frankel has PROVED he can settle which opens up lots more possibilities. Not bad for starters. Much much more to come. Unlike STS, this one’s career isnt over yet. Just watch him when he goes over 10f.
I knew he would win by 4 lengths because I trust my eyes that tell me, like many many others, this is the best horse there has been. It’s not rocket science. It is simple. Obvious. As everyone that was there today will tell you. He did it sooooo easily.
A privelige to be there.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 19, 2012 at 22:21 #404812the usain bolt comparison is a good one. he wouldn’t have the stamina to step up and win over 400 which is a bit like frankel over a mile and half. but does that make him less of a horse? I don’t get the whole "you have to be versatile" to be great argument.
does that mean an athlete can’t be great unless he does the decathlon?
May 19, 2012 at 22:55 #404818Nobody would deny Bolt is the greatest human sprinter in the world.Jut as nobody would deny Frankel is the greatest miler. Also Black Caviar is the greatest sprinter. But to compare Bolt to Black Caviar or Frankel to Black Caviar is simply stretching it.Incidentally comparing me to a gentleman(sir) is also stretching it.But I declare I am neither sour nor bitter although I might be slow to judgement. As for the previous gentleman I accept his gracious retraction.

That performance might just be Frankel’s best to date?
Timeform have rated Frankel’s performance today at 142.
Although he has extended his superiority over Excelebration, who had the benefit of a run under his belt, to five lengths and that over Dubawi Gold by three lengths, based on their 2,000 Guineas form, Frankel’s run today is held down by the proximity of Bullet Train.
Needless to say, it looked as though the winner could’ve won by much further had he been asked to do so and there remains little doubt that he could post a far higher figure later in the season.
